John Doyle (Irish Artist)
John Doyle (Dublin 1797 – 2 January 1868 London), known by the pen name H. B., was an Irish political cartoonist, caricaturist, painter and lithographer. Early life and family He was the eldest son of a Dublin silk mercer, and came from a Roman Catholic family which in the 17th century had been granted extensive estates, possibly in County Offaly or County Laois, and their own coat of arms, but had suffered for their religion and since been dispossessed. In his youth he learned to paint landscapes under Gaspare Gabrielli, and miniature portraits at the Royal Dublin Society's drawing school under John Comerford. He won a gold medal in 1805. He was commissioned to paint equestrian portraits of the Marquess of Sligo and Lord Talbot, the Irish viceroy, and in 1822 he produced six prints entitled ''The Life of a Racehorse''. Jack Doyle (boxer)
Joseph "Jack" Doyle (31 August 1913 – 13 December 1978), known as "The Gorgeous Gael", was an Irish boxer, actor, and a tenor. He was born Joseph Doyle (Joe to his friends) but changed to Jack when starting his professional career. At one time or another, Doyle was a contender for the British Boxing Championship. Early years Doyle was born into a working-class family in Cobh, in County Cork, Ireland in 1913. At six feet five inches, he was good with his fists and in 1929, joined the Irish Guards regiment of the British Army based in Wales. There he excelled at boxing and was famed for his strong hooks that won him the British Army Championship. A record of 28 straight victories, 27 by knockout, brought him to the attention of promoter Dan Sullivan. John Jeremy Doyle, (born 4 January 1945), Australian jurist, was the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of South Australia, the highest ranking court in the Australian State of South Australia, between 1995 and 2012. Early life and education Doyle was educated at Saint Ignatius College, South Australia, and was dux of the college in 1962. He went on to graduate in law from the University of Adelaide in 1966 and was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship in 1967, completing his studies in law at Magdalen College, Oxford, in 1969. John Comstock Doyle is the John G Braun Professor of Control and Dynamical Systems, Electrical Engineering, and BioEngineering at the California Institute of Technology. He is known for his work in control theory and his current research interests are in theoretical foundations for complex networks in engineering, biology, and multiscale physics. John Andrew Doyle, DL (14 May 1844 – 4 August 1907) was an English historian, the son of Andrew Doyle, editor of ''The Morning Chronicle''. He was educated at Eton and at Balliol College, Oxford, winning the Arnold prize in 1868 for his essay, ''The American Colonies'' and elected President of the Oxford Union in 1870. He was a fellow of All Souls from 1870 until his death, which occurred at Crickhowell, Wales, on 4 August 1907. He inherited the estate of his grandfather Sir John Easthope, 1st Baronet. John Joseph Doyle (born March 16, 1966) is an American retired soccer player who played professionally in both Europe and the United States including the Western Soccer League, American Professional Soccer League and Major League Soccer. He was the 1995 A-League Defender of the Year and the 1996 MLS Defender of the Year. He also earned fifty-three caps with the U.S. national team between 1987 and 1994 including two games at the 1990 FIFA World Cup. He was a member of the U.S. team at the 1988 Summer Olympics and was most recently the general manager of the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer before resigning on August 29, 2016. John Doyle (born 17 January 1946) is an Irish Australian soccer coach and former player who was a forward. He won a single cap for the Australia men's national association football team in 1970 and coached the Australia women's national association football team during 1988. Career Born in Ireland, Doyle played club football for various teams in the Sydney area. He made one official international appearance for Australia's male team, as a substitute in a 1–0 friendly win over Israel on 10 November 1970. The match was part of a world tour under new coach Rale Rasic. On the tour Doyle took part in a further six matches, scoring two goals, in games which were not considered full international fixtures. Johnny Doyle is a Gaelic footballer who plays for Allenwood and, formerly, at senior level for the Kildare county team. Playing career Doyle has won one Agricultural Colleges All-Ireland. His talents are very versatile and he has won an All-Ireland Cross Country Athletic College medal and won several boxing medals. John Doyle (born 1992 in Carlow, Ireland) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with O Loughlin Gaels and has been a member of the Carlow senior inter-county team since 2011. Playing career Club Doyle currently plays his hurling in Kilkenny with O Loughlin gaels. However, Doyle started playing his club hurling with Carlow Town. After coming to prominence at underage levels he made his senior club championship debut as a fringe player in 2008. He has since become a key member of the team's full-forward line.
