John Doyle (Canadian Artist)
John Doyle (born 1950 in Toronto, Ontario) is a prominent Canadian painter. A 1974 graduate of Fine Arts at York University, he has had solo and group shows in galleries across Canada. Doyle has traveled extensively throughout Canada, capturing the Canadian landscape, from one coast to the other, in paint. He works predominantly in acrylic paint, acrylic on canvas, applying paint in an expressive style. Moving, over the course of his career, from subtle to vibrant in his use of colour, his most recent work is notable for its audacious use of colour and bold brush strokes. John Joseph Doyle (October 25, 1869 – December 31, 1958) was an Irish-American first baseman in Major League Baseball whose career spanned 17 seasons, mainly in the National League. He was born in Killorglin, Ireland, and emigrated to the U.S. when he was a child, his family settling in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Playing career After attending Fordham University, he embarked on a baseball career that would last 70 years. He made his first appearance at the major league level by signing and playing two years for the Columbus Solons of the American Association. Doyle would play for ten clubs from to , batting .299 in 1,569 games with 518 stolen bases. He began as a catcher–outfielder and became a first baseman in . John Jeremy Doyle, (born 4 January 1945), Australian jurist, was the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of South Australia, the highest ranking court in the Australian State of South Australia, between 1995 and 2012. Early life and education Doyle was educated at Saint Ignatius College, South Australia, and was dux of the college in 1962. He went on to graduate in law from the University of Adelaide in 1966 and was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship in 1967, completing his studies in law at Magdalen College, Oxford, in 1969. John Comstock Doyle is the John G Braun Professor of Control and Dynamical Systems, Electrical Engineering, and BioEngineering at the California Institute of Technology. He is known for his work in control theory and his current research interests are in theoretical foundations for complex networks in engineering, biology, and multiscale physics. Johnny Doyle is a Gaelic footballer who plays for Allenwood and, formerly, at senior level for the Kildare county team. Playing career Doyle has won one Agricultural Colleges All-Ireland. His talents are very versatile and he has won an All-Ireland Cross Country Athletic College medal and won several boxing medals. Doyle also more recently has taken up a managerial role with the Maynooth Sigerson first team. John Joe Doyle
John Joe "Goggles" Doyle (14 June 1906 – 11 August 2000) was an Irish hurler who played as a left corner-back for the Clare senior team. Doyle made his first appearance for the team during the 1926 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1938 championship. During that time he won one Munster medal. Doyle was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. At club level Doyle is a six-time county club championship medalist with Newmarket-on-Fergus. John Doyle (Tipperary Hurler)
John Doyle (12 February 1930 – 29 December 2010) was an Irish hurler who played as a left corner-back at senior level for the Tipperary county team. Born in Holycross, County Tipperary, Doyle first played competitive hurling whilst at school in Thurles CBS. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor team. He made his senior debut in the 1947-48 National League. Doyle went on to play a key part for Tipperary during a hugely successful era for the team, and won eight All-Ireland medals, ten Munster medals and eleven National Hurling League medals. John Joseph Doyle (born March 16, 1966) is an American retired soccer player who played professionally in both Europe and the United States including the Western Soccer League, American Professional Soccer League and Major League Soccer. He was the 1995 A-League Defender of the Year and the 1996 MLS Defender of the Year. He won a single cap for the Australia men's national association football team in 1970 and coached the Australia women's national association football team during 1988.
