John Dowling (Gaelic Footballer)
John Dowling (1930–1998) was an Irish sportsperson. He played Gaelic football for his local Kerins O'Rahilly's club and at senior level for the Kerry county team between 1954 and 1961. Kerins O'Rahilly's are a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland. They are based in the Strand Road area of the town. They are in Division 1 of the county league which they won in 2006, and compete in the County Championship. History The club was founded in 1927 and was named for The O'Rahilly (1875–1916), a Kerryman killed in the Easter Rising, and Charlie Kerins (1918–1944) of the later IRA, executed during the Second World War. The Galway county football team ( ) represents Galway in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Galway GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Connacht Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. Galway's home ground is Pearse Stadium, Salthill. The team's manager is Pádraic Joyce. Peter McDermott (Gaelic Footballer)
Peter McDermott (27 July 1918 – 11 October 2011) was an Irish Gaelic football player, coach, administrator and referee. Throughout a club career that spanned over 20 years, he played for several clubs and enjoyed championship success in different grades with Rathfeigh, Donaghmore and Navan O'Mahony's. At inter-county level, he was left corner-forward on the Meath senior football team that won All-Ireland Championship titles in 1949 and 1954 as team captain; he was the first Meath player to win six Leinster Championship medals and also claimed two National League titles. His 51 championship appearances stood as a Meath record for nearly 40 years. As well as club and county successes, McDermott was a regular for Leinster and won three Railway Cup medals. McDermott's inter-county career was congruous with a career as a top-ranking referee and he took charge of All-Ireland finals in 1953 and 1956. Jack Mangan
Jack Mangan (6 May 1927 – 17 September 2013) was an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played as a goalkeeper for the Galway senior team. Mangan is regarded as one of Galway's greatest-ever goalkeepers. He made his debut for the team during the 1948 and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement due to injury a decade later. During that time he won one All-Ireland winners' medal and four Connacht winners' medals. In 1956 he captained the side to the All-Ireland title.
