John Dougall (actor)
John Dougall is a British actor. He trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He is notable for his appearances on television, radio and the stage, including ''Anne Boleyn'' (2010, Shakespeare's Globe) and several productions for Propeller. After leaving the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama he spent two year in school and community theatre work in Inverness, Pitlochry and Glasgow. At the Swan Theatre in Worcester he played Jim Hawkins in ''Treasure Island'' and Kinesias in ''Lysistrata''.Biographical note in programme for ''Another Country'', London 1984. He played Tommy Judd in '' Another Country'' at the Queen’s Theatre in the West End. John Dougall (mathematician)
Dr John Dougall FRSE (June 1867 – 24 February 1960) was "one of Scotland's leading mathematicians".. Two formulas are named Dougall's formula after him: one for the sum of a 7''F''6 hypergeometric series, and another for the sum of a bilateral hypergeometric series. Life Dougall was born in June 1867 in Kippen, a small village near Stirling, Scotland; his father, a watchmaker and postmaster, had nine children, among whom John was the eldest.. He was educated locally at Kippen School. He left school at age 13 to become a post office worker, but a year later entered Glasgow University, from which he earned an M.A. in 1886. (He was later given a doctorate by the same university.) After graduating, he taught mathematics at the Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College before becoming an editor and translator of mathematical publications for Blackie and Son, a Glasgow publisher. John Dougall (21 September 1810 – 5 April 1888) was a merchant and the founder of the Montreal Witness. Biography He was born in Paisley, Scotland and was raised in the cloth trade there. John emigrated to Canada in 1826 and was followed by his brother. He and his brother James Dougall began by the selling of dry goods, first in Quebec, and later moving the business to Montreal and York, in the Toronto region. John Dougall (born April 2, 1966) is an American politician from the state of Utah who has been serving as the Utah State Auditor . A member of the Republican Party, he previously served as a Utah State Representative from 2003 to 2013. Dougall assumed office during the 55th legislative session, replacing David Litvack. Dougall has received bipartisan praise for his accomplishments as state auditor. Early life and education Dougall was born in Hollywood and raised in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, and he earned his Master of Science in electrical engineering from BYU the following year.
