Donoghue (born 1949) is an American neuroscientist; he is currently the Henry Merritt Wriston Professor of Neuroscience and Professor of Engineering at Brown University, where he has taught since 1984. Donoghue founded Brown's Carney Institute for Brain Science and directed the institute from 2008 to 2015. He later served as the founding director of the Wyss Center for Bio and Neuroengineering at Campus Biotech in Geneva, Switzerland. Donoghue is best known for his work developing BrainGate and is recognized as a pioneer in neuroprosthetics and brain–computer interfaces. Early life and education John P. John Francis Donoghue (August 9, 1928 – November 11, 2011) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as the second bishop of the Diocese of Charlotte in North Carolina from 1984 to 1993 and as the fifth archbishop of the Archdiocese of Atlanta in Georgia from 1993 to 2004. Biography Early life and education Donoghue was born and raised in Washington, D.C., the second of four brothers born to Irish immigrant parents, Daniel and Rose (née Ryan) Donoghue. He received a Bachelor of Philosophy degree and a Master of Sacred Theology degree from St. Mary's Seminary and University in Baltimore, Maryland. John Talbott Donoghue
John Talbott Donoghue (1853 – July 1, 1903) was an American artist who was born in Chicago. Although he produced figural sculpture, bas reliefs and paintings, his fame rests primarily on a single bronze sculpture, "The Young Sophocles". This bronze was originally cast in 1885, but later castings are known to exist. It is a full-length nude sculpture of the Greek dramatist Sophocles playing a lyre while leading the chorus of victory after the Battle of Salamis in 480 BCE. John Talbott Donoghue shot himself on July 1, 1903, in Lake Whitney, Connecticut. The Honolulu Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art are among the public collections holding works by John Talbott Donoghue.
