John Donnelly (hurler)
John Donnelly (born 4 March 1998) is an Irish hurler who plays for Kilkenny Intermediate Championship club Thomastown and at inter-county level with the Kilkenny senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a centre-forward. Playing career DCU Dóchas Éireann As a student at Dublin City University, Donnelly immediately became involved in hurling and joined the college's freshers' hurling team in his first year. On 2 March 2017, he was selected at full-forward when Dublin City University faced the University of Limerick in the All-Ireland freshers' final. Donnelly was held scoreless but ended the game with a winners' medal following the 1-15 to 1-13 extra-time victory. Thomastown Donnelly joined the Thomastown club at a young age and played in all grades at juvenile and underage levels before eventually joining the club's top adult team in the Kilkenny Intermediate Championship. The Limerick County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Chontae Luimneach) or Limerick GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Limerick. Luke Scanlon
Luke Scanlon (born 2 June 1996) is an Irish hurler who plays as a Goalkeeper for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Kilkenny, Scanlon first played competitive hurling at CBS Kilkenny, winning back-to-back Leinster medals in 2013 and 2014. He simultaneously came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the James Stephens club, winning a minor championship medal in 2012. Scanlon subsequently joined the James Stephens senior team. Scanlon made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he was selected for the Kilkenny minor team. He enjoyed two championship seasons with the minor team, culminating with the winning of an All-Ireland medal in 2014. He subsequently joined the Kilkenny intermediate team, winning an All-Ireland medal in 2016 before winning a Leinster medal with the under-21 team in 2017. Richie Leahy
Richard Leahy (born 13 March 1997) is an Irish hurler who plays for Kilkenny Senior Championship club Rower–Inistioge and at inter-county level with the Kilkenny senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a midfielder. Playing career St. Kieran's College Leahy first came to prominence as a hurler with St. Kieran's College in Kilkenny. Having played in every grade as a hurler, he was eventually called up the college's senior team. On 9 March 2014, Leahy was an unused substitute when St. Kieran's College suffered a 2-13 to 0-13 defeat by Kilkenny CBS in the Leinster final. On 5 April 2014, he was named on the substitutes' bench for the All-Ireland final against Kilkenny CBS. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire, London and Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. 2018 National Hurling League
The 2018 National Hurling League was the 87th season of the National Hurling League for county teams. Wexford finished top of Division 1B in 2017 and were promoted to Division 1A for 2018. Galway finished second in Division 1B in 2017 and so missed out on promotion, even though they subsequently won the Division 1 league final. Cavan re-entered the National Hurling League in Division 3B, having previously withdrawn. Lancashire also entered in Division 3B for the first time. Eir Sport and TG4 provided live TV coverage of the league on Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons respectively. Conor Martin (born 1994) is an Irish hurler who plays as a left corner-forward for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Urlingford, County Kilkenny, Martin first played competitive hurling at juvenile and underage levels with the Emeralds club. He subsequently joined the club's senior team. He won a Fitzgibbon Cup medal in 2015 while playing with University of Limerick. Martin made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he was selected for the Kilkenny minor team. He had two championship seasons with the minor team. He subsequently joined the Kilkenny under-21 team, winning aa Leinster medal in 2012. Martin joined the senior team during the 2016 league and won a Leinster medal in his debut season. 2017 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 2017 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 130th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 23 April 2017 and ended on 3 September 2017. The draw for the championship was held on 13 October 2016 and was broadcast live on RTÉ2. Tipperary, the 2016 champions, were defeated by Galway in the All-Ireland semi-final. Meath fielded a team in the championship for the first time since 2004. On 3 September 2017 Galway won the championship following a 0–26 to 2–17 defeat of Waterford in the All-Ireland final.
