John Davidson (11 April 1857 – 23 March 1909) was a Scottish poet, playwright and novelist, best known for his ballads. He also did translations from French and German. In 1909, financial difficulties, as well as physical and mental health problems, led to his suicide. Life and works Scotland He was born at Barrhead, East Renfrewshire as the son of Alexander Davidson, an Evangelical Union minister and Helen ''née'' Crocket of Elgin. His family removed to Greenock in 1862 where he was educated at Highlanders' Academy there and entered the chemical laboratory of Walker's Sugarhouse refinery in his 13th year, returning after one year to school as a pupil teacher. Davidson also briefly worked in the Public Analysts' Office, from 1870–71. In these employments he developed an interest in science which became an important characteristic of his poetry. John Davidson (Tourette Syndrome Campaigner)
John Davidson MBE (born 1971 or 1972) is a Scottish campaigner for Tourette syndrome, who lives in Galashiels. At age 16, Davidson was the subject of the BBC TV documentary ''John's Not Mad'' (1989) about the manifestations of Tourette syndrome with which he lived, and a number of follow-up BBC documentaries throughout his life. He is a "nationally known ambassador for the condition", who gives talks and workshops for school pupils, teachers and police, and has organised an annual two-day residential Tourette camp for young people. In 2019 he was awarded an MBE in recognition of "his efforts to increase understanding of the condition and helping families deal with it across the country." John Frank Davidson FRS FREng FIChemE (7 February 1926 - 25 December 2019) was a British chemical engineer and former Shell Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Cambridge. He is regarded as the founding father of the subject of Fluidization in Chemical Engineering. Early life John Frank Davidson was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, the industrial centre of the county of Northumberland. His school years (1937–1944) fell on severe days of World War II. In 1944, he entered the University of Cambridge, with which all his further life has been associated. After receiving the degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1947, Davidson joined Rolls-Royce in Derby, where he served two and a half years in the Mechanical Development Department. Having returned in 1950 to Cambridge, he became a graduate student in the Engineering Department (1950–1952). John Ogilvie Davidson
John Ogilvie "Skook" Davidson , MM & two bars (July 29, 1892 - 1972) was a soldier, land surveyor, packer, guide and rancher in far northern British Columbia, Canada. Known as "Skook" or "Skookum" Davidson because of his stature (big and strong), he is the namesake of Mount Skook Davidson and the Liard River landing Skooks Landing was so-named because it was where he would arrange to have supplies dropped for his Diamond J Ranch, which lay up the Kechika River 150 miles from there. He moved to Vancouver in 1972 following a fire at the ranch. The location is near Fireside, British Columbia and near it is an old construction camp used by crews building the Alaska Highway [Baidu]

John Davidson (1878 – 1970) was a notable Scottish-Canadian botanist. Biography He was born in Aberdeen, Scotland. He worked at the University of Aberdeen from 1893 to 1911. He later moved to Canada in the hopes of securing a professorship at the soon to be established University of British Columbia (UBC). Instead, he was appointed the first Provincial Botanist of British Columbia. Davidson established a herbarium on West Pender Street, Vancouver, and a botanical garden near New Westminster, at Coquitlam (at thColony FarmanEssondalefarming and mental hospital complex, which later became Riverview Hospital in the 1950s). This collection was moved to the UBC in 1916 where it became the UBC Botanical Garden. This move is often described as having involved the transfer of 25,000 plants, though this figure is an exaggeration. John Ewen Davidson (2 March 1841 in London – 2 September 1923 in Oxford) was a colonist sugar planter, slave owner, murderer, and miller in Queensland. Life and career John Ewen Davidson was born as the son of a Scottish merchant. He was educated Harrow School and Oxford, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1862. John Davidson (1797–1836) was an English traveller in Africa. Early life He was son of a tailor and army clothier in Cork Street, London, and originally from Kelso, and was born on 23 December 1797. He went to school at a private academy near London, and when sixteen years old at his own request was apprenticed to Savory & Moore, the chemists and druggists, in which he later purchased a partnership. He became a pupil at St George's Hospital, and entered the University of Edinburgh with the intention of becoming a doctor. His health failing, however, he went to Naples in the autumn of 1827. From Naples he went through Styria and Carniola to Vienna, made an excursion through Poland and Russia, and returned home by way of Hamburg. John Davidson is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. He played for Balmain and Cronulla-Sutherland in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition. John Arthur Davidson (born February 27, 1953) is a Canadian-American professional ice hockey executive and former player, who serves as President of Hockey Operations and alternate governor for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). As a goaltender, he played in the NHL for the St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers. He is also well known as a long-time hockey broadcaster, and was honored by the Hockey Hall of Fame with the 2009 Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for his contributions to broadcasting.
