John Dalgreen
John Dalgreen (birth registered third ¼ 1955) is an English former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. He played at representative level for Great Britain, and at club level for Halifax (two spells), Warrington and Fulham RLFC, as a . Background John Dalgreen's birth was registered in Spen Valley district, West Riding of Yorkshire, England. Playing career International honours John Dalgreen won his only cap for Great Britain while at Fulham RLFC in the 1982 Ashes series against Australia. During the first half of the game at Wigan's Central Park, Dalgreen was tackled by fiery Kangaroos forward Les Boyd. While on the ground he lashed out with his boot at Boyd, kicking him in the shins. Boyd retaliated by kicking the Lions and was sent off by the French referee Julian Rascagneres. Dalgreen escaped sanction for the incident as the focus was put on Boyd's send-off. Spen Valley was a parliamentary constituency in the valley of the River Spen in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It returned one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. History The constituency was created by the Redistribution of Seats Act 1885 for the 1885 general election, retained with altered boundaries in 1918, and abolished for the 1950 general election. The Widnes Vikings are an English rugby league club in Widnes, Cheshire, which competes in the Betfred Championship. The club plays home matches at the Halton Stadium. Founded as Widnes Football Club, they are one of the original twenty-two rugby clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895. Knowsley Road in Eccleston, St Helens, Merseyside, was the home ground of St. Helens from 1890 until its closure in 2010. St Helens Town FC played their home fixtures at Knowsley Road from 2002 until 2010. For a period, the venue also hosted Liverpool F.C. Reserves. The stadium was demolished during spring 2011 and a new construction then known as Cunningham Grange, named after club legend Keiron Cunningham, was built on the site. Stadium Knowsley Road consisted of four stands of open terracing and one seated stand called the Family Stand. Sixteen English clubs competed for the Northern Rugby Football League Championship with Widnes claiming the title by finishing the season on top of the League.
