John Reilly Costello (born December 24, 1960) is a former relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the St. Louis Cardinals (-), Montreal Expos () and San Diego Padres (). He batted and threw right-handed. John Castelli, known as Costello (15 May 1890 – 24 June 1915) was an English professional footballer who played in the Football League for Glossop as a right back. Personal life Costello worked as a warehouseman. On 30 September 1914, a month after the outbreak of the First World War, he enlisted in the Plymouth Battalion, 63rd (Royal Naval) Division of the Royal Marine Light Infantry. He held the rank of sergeant and was shot in the right ankle at Gallipoli on 12 June 1915. Evacuated to the hospital ship , Costello died of wounds on 24 June 1915. John Edward Costello (1943- 26 August 1995) was a British military historian, who wrote about World War I, World War II and the Cold War. He was born in Greenock near Glasgow and graduated from Cambridge University in law and Soviet economic history. At Cambridge he was secretary of the Union and chairman of the Conservative Association. He then worked as a director and scriptwriter for the BBC before writing on military history. He died unexpectedly at the age of 52 while on a flight from London to Miami, having gone to Britain for research. He was living in Miami and Manhattan. Sir John Alexander Macdonald (January 10 or 11, 1815 – June 6, 1891) was the first prime minister of Canada, serving from 1867 to 1873 and from 1878 to 1891. John Costello (c. 1850–1887) was a United States Navy sailor and a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor. Biography Born in about 1850 in Rouses Point, New York, Costello joined the Navy while living in that state. By July 16, 1876, he was serving as an ordinary seaman on the . On that day, while ''Hartford'' was in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he rescued a shipmate who was a landsman from drowning. John Costello (31 March 1838 – 25 February 1923) was a pioneer and pastoralist in outback Queensland. Early life Born in Yass, New South Wales, Costello was the fifth child of Michael and Mary Costello. His father was a store-keeper and grazier who had come to Australia with his wife from Ireland in 1837. All four of his siblings died en route to Australia, the family later had a daughter named Mary. The family had settled in Yass in 1851 after selling their store and acquired in the area. Costello quickly became a renowned stockman. Pastoral endeavours In 1863 his younger sister, Mary, married Patrick Durack. Costello and Durack both shared a hunger for land and were fascinated by stories of explorers travelling through outback Queensland.
