''John Corbett'' is the self-titled debut album of American actor and singer John Corbett. It was released on April 4, 2006 via Funbone Records. The album charted as high as number 45 on Top Country Albums upon release, and included a single which reached the Hot Country Songs charts: "Good to Go". Content The album produced only one single: "Good to Go", which peaked at number 43 on the Hot Country Songs charts in 2006. The song debuted at number 48 on that chart dated for the week of February 11, 2006, the highest debut for an independently signed artist's first single since the charts were first tabulated with Nielsen SoundScan in 1990. John Corbett (chemist)
John Corbett (March 23, 1926 – September 2, 2013) was an American chemist who specialized in inorganic solid-state chemistry. At Iowa State and Ames Lab, Corbett lead a research group that focused on the synthesis and characterization of two broad classes of materials, notably Zintl phases and condensed transition metal halide clusters. Both classes of materials are important for their uses, for instance thermoelectrics, and for the theoretical advances they made possible by working to understand their complex bonding and electronic properties. Career Corbett received his Ph.D. in 1952 from the University of Washington. He joined the chemistry faculty of Iowa State University and the scientific staff of Ames Laboratory in 1953. He was affiliated with both institutions for his entire career. He was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. John Corbett (coach)
John Corbett (November 14, 1869 – February 20, 1947) was an American football player and coach of multiple sports. He played football for Harvard University from 1890 to 1893 and was selected as one of the two halfbacks on the 1890 College Football All-America Team. He graduated from Harvard in 1894 and earned a master's degree from Ohio University in 1910. Corbett went on to coach football in Ohio, Oklahoma, and Wyoming. In 1914, he moved to Wyoming where he coached all of the athletic teams, including football, basketball, baseball, and track and field, for the University of Wyoming from 1914 to 1924. He remained the university's director of physical education until his retirement in September 1939. He became known as Wyoming's "Grand Old Man of Athletics." In October 1931, the University of Wyoming's athletic field was named Corbett Field in his honor. Cornelius John Corbett (8 March 1883 – 10 April 1944) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire from 1911 to 1924 Corbett was born in Thame, Oxfordshire one of three sons of Rev. Elijah Bagot Corbett and his wife Mary Anne née Davies. His father was Vicar of Thame from 1872 to 1893. Corbett became headmaster of "Rycote", a school on the Kedlestone Road, Derby, and later The Ashe at Etwall. Corbett made his first-class cricket debut for Derbyshire against Essex in August 1911, making 14 and 4 and bowling without taking a wicket. He played three more matches that season, and played regularly thereafter, usually in August during the school holidays. Admiral Sir John Corbett, (15 July 1822 – 10 December 1893) was a Royal Navy officer who went on to be Commander-in-Chief, East Indies Station. Naval career Corbett joined the Royal Navy in 1835. Promoted to commander in 1852, he served in the Second Opium War. Following his promotion to captain in 1857, he commanded HMS ''Scout'', HMS ''Hastings'', HMS ''Black Prince'' and then the training ship HMS ''Britannia''. In 1867 he commanded HMS ''Warrior''. John Polson Cameron Corbett, 4th Baron Rowallan (born 8 March 1947), is a British hereditary peer. He is the son of Arthur Corbett, 3rd Baron Rowallan, and Eleanor Mary Boyle. He is usually known as Johnny Corbett or Johnny Rowallan. Biography He was educated at Eton College and the Royal Agricultural College. John Rooke Corbett (27 September 1876 – 13 August 1949), better known as J. Rooke Corbett was one of the founder-members of The Rucksack Club and their Convener of Rambles. In the 1920s Corbett compiled a list of Scottish hills between 2500 and 3000 feet with a prominence of at least 500 feet. It was not published until after his death, when his sister passed it to the Scottish Mountaineering Club. It is now well known to Scottish hillwalkers as The Corbetts.
