John Cobham (MP)
John Cobham (died 12 November 1399) was an English politician. Life Cobham was the son of John Cobham of Hever, Kent. His brother, Thomas Cobham, was also an MP for Kent. He married three times. Before 1363, he married Juliana, a widow from Sittingbourne, Kent. Around 1375, he married Joan d’Oyley from Staffordshire, also a widow. At some point before June 1398, he married a woman named Margaret. Career Cobham was Member of Parliament for Sussex 1378 and 1385, Surrey January 1380, April 1384, November 1384 and Kent January 1390, 1394 and September 1397. John Cobham (archdeacon Of Totnes)
John Lawrence Cobham (12 May 1873 – 27 December 1960) was an Anglican priest. He was educated at Merchant Taylors' School, Crosby and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and ordained in 1897. He was Curate of Great Yarmouth from 1896 to 1900; and then of Christ Church, Gipsy Hill until 1904.He was Vicar of Carshalton from 1904 and a Chaplain to the British Armed Forces during World War I. Later he was Vicar of St Peter, Tunbridge Wells and then Rector of St Mark's Torquay. Justice of the Common Pleas was a puisne judicial position within the Court of Common Pleas of England and Wales, under the Chief Justice. The Common Pleas was the primary court of common law within England and Wales, dealing with "common" pleas (civil matters between subject and subject). It was created out of the common law jurisdiction of the Exchequer of Pleas, with splits forming during the 1190s and the division becoming formal by the beginning of the 13th century. The court became a key part of the Westminster courts, along with the Exchequer of Pleas (qualified to hear cases involving revenue owed to the King) and the Court of King's Bench (authorised to hear cases involving the King), but with the Writ of Quominus and the Statute of Westminster, both tried to extend their jurisdiction into the realm of common pleas. John De Cobham, 2nd Baron Cobham (of Kent)
John de Cobham, 2nd Baron Cobham (died 1355) lord of the Manor of Cobham, Kent, was an English nobleman.Richardson, Douglas. ''Magna Carta Ancestry.'' Baltimore, MD: GPC, 2005. 902. He was the eldest son and heir of Henry de Cobham, 1st Baron Cobham. In 1320 he became Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports and constable of Dover Castle, succeeding his father in both positions. In 1334 he was appointed, along with his father, constable of Rochester Castle. The following year he was made Admiral for the region west of the Thames. After 1350, he served in Parliament for districts in Kent. He died in 1355. He married Joan of Beauchamp, daughter of John Lord Beauchamp; after her death, he married one Agnes Stone of Dartford.
