John Clark (basketball)
John J. Clark is an American former basketball player. He played college basketball for the Northeastern Huskies from 1972 to 1976 where he graduated as the team's all-time leading scorer. Clark was selected by the Boston Celtics in the sixth round of the 1976 NBA draft. Clark was inducted into the Northeastern Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 1987. His coach Jim Calhoun James A. The Northeastern Huskies men's basketball team represents Northeastern University, located in Boston, Massachusetts, in NCAA Division I basketball competition. The 1976 NBA draft was the 30th annual draft of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The draft was held on June 8, 1976, before the 1976–77 season. In this draft, 18 NBA teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players and other eligible players, including international players. James A. Calhoun (born May 10, 1942) is a longtime college basketball coach. He is best known for his tenure as head coach of the University of Connecticut (UConn) men's basketball team. His teams won three NCAA national championships ( 1999, 2004, 2011), played in four Final Fours, won the 1988 NIT title, and won seven Big East tournament championships (1990, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2004, 2011). With his team's 2011 NCAA title win, the 68-year-old Calhoun became the oldest coach to win a Division I men's basketball title.
