	John Christensen (baseball) John Lawrence Christensen (born September 5, 1960) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He played all or part of four seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) between 1984 and 1988. New York Mets Christensen was originally drafted by the California Angels out of Troy High School in Fullerton, California in the 16th round of the 1978 MLB draft, but elected instead to attend California State University, Fullerton. The New York Mets then selected him in the second round of the 1981 MLB draft. After batting .313 at Triple-A Tidewater in 1984, he debuted with the Mets as a September call-up, batting .273 with three runs batted in and two runs scored with the big league club. Two blockbuster trades Christensen's numbers tailed off considerably in 1985; he batted only .212 with the Tidewater Tides, and .186 with the Mets. 	Jon Christensen (musician) Jon Ivar Christensen (20 March 1943 – 18 February 2020) was a Norwegian jazz drummer. He was married to actress, minister, and theater director Ellen Horn, Store Norske Leksikon (in Norwegian) and was the father of singer and actress Emilie Stoesen Christensen. Career In the late 1960s, Christensen played alongside Jan Garbarek on several recordings by the composer George Russell. He also was a central participant in the jazz band Masqualero, with Arild Andersen, and they reappeared in 2003 for his 60th anniversary. 	Jon Christensen (journalist) Jon Allan Christensen (born 1960) is an American freelance journalist with a focus of writing about California, from his Venice home in coastal Los Angeles County. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, where he periodically teaches a class, Environmental journalism, for undergraduate Environmental Science majors at UCLA. In January 2020 he authored an op-ed opinion piece in the Los Angeles Times about bulldozing the Ballona Wetlands, which would harm endangered native wildlife and rare native wildflowers, as well as removing living soil. Biography Christensen was the Executive Director at the Bill Lane Center for the American West and a doctoral student at Stanford University, then quit his PhD History program, when he moved south to Los Angeles County in 2012, to join the staff of the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability.
