John Chandler Holloway
John Chandler Holloway (July 7, 1826 – February 26, 1901) was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly and the Wisconsin State Senate. Biography Holloway was born on July 7, 1826 in York, New York. Later, he moved to Lancaster, Wisconsin. Chandler died in Cloverdale, California on February 26, 1901. Career Holloway was a member of the Assembly during the 1871 session and of the Senate from the 16th District during the 1872, 1873, 1874 and 1875 session. In 1874, he was chosen to be President Pro Tem. Previously, Holloway was Chairman of the Town Board of Lancaster from 1857 to 1861. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Since 1973, the state has been divided into 99 Assembly districts apportioned amongst the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 99 representatives. The Wisconsin Senate is the upper house of the Wisconsin State Legislature. Together with the larger Wisconsin State Assembly they constitute the legislative branch of the state of Wisconsin. The powers of the Wisconsin Senate are modeled after those of the U.S. Senate. The Wisconsin Constitution ties the size of the State Senate to that of the Assembly, by limiting its size to no less than 1/4, nor more than 1/3, of the size of the Assembly. York is a town in western Livingston County, New York, United States. Its population was 3,397 at the 2010 census. The Abbey of the Genesee in the town's hamlet of Piffard is locally famous due to the production of Monks' Bread. History In 1722, the Tuscarora people moved north to join other Iroquoian natives, the League of the Iroquois, and settled near modern Piffard. The town was first settled by Europeans around 1800. Lancaster, Wisconsin
Lancaster is a city in and the county seat of Grant County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,907 at the 2020 census. History Lancaster originated as a planned community to serve as the county seat for Grant County. Anticipating the county's establishment in 1836, Major Glendower M. Price, a Cassville merchant and land speculator, purchased the site of Lancaster for its central location in the county. Major Price platted the town on a compass-aligned grid in 1837, reserving a large central square for the new county government. He was persuaded to name the city Lancaster by a relative who migrated from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Maj. Price and Daniel Banfill contracted to construct the first county courthouse, which stood on the square from 1838-1851. A second courthouse was constructed in 1852-1853 and enlarged in 1865. Cloverdale, California
Cloverdale is a city in Sonoma County, California, United States; it is both the westernmost and the northernmost city in the San Francisco Bay Area. The San Francisco and North Pacific Railroad reached Cloverdale in 1872. The Cloverdale Rancheria of Pomo Indians of California is headquartered there. The population was 8,618 at the 2010 census.
