John Cassin (footballer)
John Cassin (born 2 July 1951) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Essendon, North Melbourne and Fitzroy in the VFL, and West Torrens in the SANFL. He made his league debut in 1971 for Essendon after being recruited by the club under the father-son rule, his father Jack was a dual premiership player with Essendon. Cassin was mainly a wingman during his career but was also used on the ball and up forward. In 1975 he left the VFL and joined West Torrens in South Australia, captaining them for the 1976 season. In 1977 he joined North Melbourne and was one of the club's leading goalkickers in their premiership year with 36 goals. Colac Football Club
The Colac Tigers Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Tigers'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the regional city of Colac, Victoria. The club plays at Central Reserve, Colac. Geelong District Football League Looking further afield Colac spent three years in the GDFL before distance got the better of them. 1977 VFL Grand Final
The 1977 VFL Grand Final was a series of two Australian rules football matches between the North Melbourne Football Club and the Collingwood Football Club. Together they are considered the 80th and 81st grand finals of the Victorian Football League and were staged to determine the premiers for the 1977 VFL season. The premiership is usually decided by a single match; however, as the first grand final ended in a draw, a grand final replay was played the following week and was won by North Melbourne. Both grand finals were held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The first was held on 24 September 1977. The game was attended by 108,224 spectators and ended in a draw, with both teams scoring 76 points. This was the second time a draw had occurred in a VFL grand final, the first being in 1948. The Hampden Football Netball League is an Australian rules football and netball league based in South-Western Victoria, with clubs located in towns along or near the Princes Highway from Camperdown to Portland. The league is a major country league. It comprises an amalgamation of the Hampden Football League with the women's netball league with the same teams and playing draw. Jack Cassin
John William Cassin (1 July 1915 – 3 September 1994) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL) over eleven seasons in twelve years, and served as the captain coach of the Euroa Football Club in 1948, and of the Colac Football Club from 1949 to 1951. He served with the RAAF in World War II. Family The son of William John Cassin (1885-1928), and Margaret Evelyn Cassin (1887–1929), née Priestly, John William Cassin was born at Richmond, Victoria on 1 July 1915. He married Edna May Falcke (1915-1971) in 1941.
