John Casey (academic)
John Casey (born 1939) is a British academic and a writer for ''The Daily Telegraph''. He has been described as "mentor" to Roger Scruton and is a former lecturer in English at the University of Cambridge and a former lecturer and a Life Fellow of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. In 1975, along with Scruton, he founded the Conservative Philosophy Group. Though not a member of Peterhouse, he has been considered part of the ''Cambridge Right'', which included scholars from Selwyn College, Gonville and Caius College and Christ's College as well. He was editor of ''The Cambridge Review'' between 1975 and 1979. Cambridge John Casey was educated by the Irish Christian Brothers at St. Brendan's College, Bristol and subsequently at King's College, Cambridge, where he received a First in both parts of the English Tripos. John Casey (Australian Convict)
John Casey (died 1882) was an Irish rebel, who was caught and tried in 1824 and transported to Australia in 1826. He won his freedom by helping capture the bushranger, John Tennant, in 1828 and became one of the early pioneers of the Gundaroo district. Biography John Casey came from Loughmoe in County Tipperary. In 1824 he was convicted at Cashel of insurrection and seems to have been involved in the later disturbances of the ‘Whiteboys’, fighting for the rights of tenant farmers in the rural areas. Casey was transported to Australia and arrived in Sydney in January 1826 aboard the convict transport, ''Sir Godfrey Webster''. In the colony of New South Wales, he was allocated to a family on the newly opened Goulburn plains and worked as a bullocky. During these early years in Australia, Casey's wife and infant children died in Ireland. John Kasay
John David Kasay (born October 27, 1969) is a former American football kicker who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 21 seasons, primarily with the Carolina Panthers. He played college football at Georgia and was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth round of the 1991 NFL Draft. Kasay left the Seahawks in 1995 to sign with the expansion Panthers, whom he was a member of for 16 seasons. He became the Panthers' all-time leading scorer, while also earning Pro Bowl honors during the 1996 season and making a Super Bowl appearance in Super Bowl XXXVIII. Jonathon James Casey (born March 29, 1962) is an American former professional ice hockey goaltender. He played in the National Hockey League with the Minnesota North Stars, Boston Bruins, and St. Louis Blues from 1984 to 1997. Early life Jon Casey was born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, to James and Colleen Casey. He is the second of four children. Fort Casey was a historical military post situated on Useppa Island in Charlotte Harbor, Florida in the mid-19th century. It was named after Captain John Charles Casey of the U.S. Army. History In 1848, the War Department determined to select a site for a new fort at Charlotte Harbor, Florida to assist with the removal of Native Americans from the region. John Keegan "Leo" Casey (1846 – 17 March 1870), known as ''the Poet of the Fenians'', was an Irish poet, orator and republican who was famous as the writer of the song " The Rising of the Moon" and as one of the central figures in the Fenian Rising of 1867. He was imprisoned by the English and died on St. Patrick's Day in 1870. Early life He was born in Mount Dalton, County Westmeath to a teacher during the height of the Great Hunger of 1846. Eight years later he moved to Gurteen, near Ballymahon in County Longford, when his father was given the post of head master at the local school.
