John Cale Comes Alive
''John Cale Comes Alive'' is the second live album by the Welsh rock musician John Cale, released in September 1984 by ZE Records after the previous studio album ''Caribbean Sunset'' (also 1984). It was recorded at The Lyceum in London, UK on 26 February 1984. It also includes two studio recordings "Ooh La La" and "Never Give Up on You". The album has not been released on compact disc or digital format. The US release has different versions of both studio tracks compared to the European version. John Cale
John Davies Cale (born 9 March 1942) is a Welsh musician, composer, singer, songwriter and record producer who was a founding member of the American rock band the Velvet Underground. Over his six-decade career, Cale has worked in various styles across rock, drone, classical, avant-garde and electronic music. He studied music at Goldsmiths College, University of London, before relocating in 1963 to New York City's downtown music scene, where he performed as part of the Theatre of Eternal Music and formed the Velvet Underground. Since leaving the band in 1968, Cale has released sixteen solo studio albums, including the widely acclaimed '' Paris 1919'' (1973) and '' Music for a New Society'' (1982). Stephen Street
Stephen Brian Street (born 29 March 1960 in Hackney, London) is an English music producer best known for his work with The Smiths, The Cranberries and Blur. Street collaborated with Morrissey on his debut album ''Viva Hate'' following the split of The Smiths. More recently he has worked with Kaiser Chiefs, Babyshambles and The Courteeners. David Young (guitarist)
David Justin Young (2 May 1949 – 31 August 2022) was an English musician, record producer and sound engineer best known for his playing with the John Cale Band in the 1980s and collaborating with the German band Element of Crime for 35 years. Career Young started his career in the 1970s. He was one of the three sound engineers on David Bowie's Diamond Dogs North American Tour in 1974. He also worked with Duke Ellington. In 1982, he started working with John Cale, initially as a sound engineer (along with David Lichtenstein) on what would become the '' Music for a New Society'' album. He also plays guitar on some songs and joined his live band as a full member soon after. Andrew Heermans (born September 21, 1953) is an American musician, mixer, audio, and mastering engineer. His three brothers and one sister were raised by their parents in Woodstock, New York. He started playing guitar during those years (1960–69) and began performing with bands on a regular basis upon a family move to Lafayette, Colorado, in 1969. After a very brief stint at the University of Colorado, Heermans returned to regular performing in soul and rock bands and began recording sounds and music. With the birth of his son, Heermans and his wife moved to a small house in the country near Hotchkiss, Colorado, where he continued to play, but with country musicians. ''Fear'' is the fourth solo studio album by Welsh rock musician John Cale, released on 1 October 1974 by Island Records. Recording and content ''Fear'' is the first of Cale's three studio albums for Island Records, all of which were released in a period of just over a year. During this time Cale was also producing records for other artists, working on albums such as ''Horses'' (1975) by Patti Smith, one of the most influential of all proto-punk records. In addition to his lead vocals on ''Fear'', Cale also played keyboards, guitars, viola, violin and bass, and was joined by Fairport Convention's Richard Thompson, Roxy Music's Brian Eno and Phil Manzanera, and other artists who were signed to Island at the time. ''Slow Dazzle'' is the fifth solo studio album by Welsh musician John Cale, released on 25 March 1975, his second album for record label Island. Content "Mr. Wilson" is about seminal American musician Brian Wilson; the Beach Boys founding member has been a strong influence on Cale's work over the years. The song reflects the strong, divisive personal struggles in Wilson's life. The music's tone fluctuates from paranoid and unhappy to warm and pleasant moment by moment. Thomas Russell Durden (December 15, 1919 – October 17, 1999) was an American steel guitarist and songwriter, who is most notable for co-writing Elvis Presley's breakthrough hit, "Heartbreak Hotel". Biography He was born in Morgan County, Georgia, the son of a sharecropper and the youngest of seven children. The family later moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he learned slide guitar and later steel guitar. He performed with the Westernaires as steel guitarist, and in the early 1950s, after moving to Gainesville, joined country band Smilin' Jack Herring and his Swingbillys. Mae Boren Axton (September 14, 1914 – April 9, 1997) was known in the music industry as the "Queen Mother of Nashville." She co-wrote the Elvis Presley hit single "Heartbreak Hotel" with Tommy Durden.
