John Cahill (businessman)
John Conway Cahill (8 January 1930 – 4 November 1995) was a British businessman, and the former Chief Executive of British Aerospace and BTR plc. He sold Rover Group to BMW in 1994. Early life He was born in Ruislip in Middlesex, United Kingdom. He had a sister. His Irish Catholic father was one of the founders of Blue Circle Industries. He was sent to boarding school at the age of nine. He did not like his experience at boarding school. He left school at the age of 16. Career He worked 12 hours a day, seven days a week and did not like holidays. BTR Cahill rose to become CEO of BTR in 1987, where he led a three-year period of sales growth. Ruislip
Ruislip ( ) is an area in the London Borough of Hillingdon in West London, and in the historic county of Middlesex. Ruislip lies west-north-west of Charing Cross, London. The manor of Ruislip appears in the Domesday Book, and some of the earliest settlements still exist today, designated as local heritage sites. The parish church, St Martin's, dates back to the 13th century and remains in use. The buildings at the northern end of Ruislip High Street form the core of the original village square and are now Grade II listed. It originally featured a central water pump, but this was moved out of the road in the 1970s as a result of increased traffic. Alan Robert Jackson (30 March 1936 – 4 August 2018) was an Australian businessman who was the Director of BTR Nylex between 1984 and 1996 and Chief Executive Officer of BTR plc between 1991 and 1996 as well as Chairman of the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) between 1996 and 2001. He was also a board member of the Reserve Bank of Australia between 1991 and 2001. Sir Norman Charles Ireland FCA FCMI (28 May 1927 – 5 October 2011) was a British businessman who was Chief Executive and later Chairman of British conglomerate, BTR plc. Ireland was born in the Aden Protectorate in 1927 but soon left to study in the British Raj and finally the United Kingdom. From there, he became qualified as an accountant and in doing so, became a financial adviser to the British, Avon Rubber Company from 1954 to 1967. It was in his later life that he joined BTR plc. In this time, he was the financial controller from 1967 until the 1980s, where Sir Owen Green promoted him to become the chief executive in 1984. The Panavia Tornado Air Defence Variant (ADV) was a long-range, twin-engine interceptor version of the swing-wing Panavia Tornado. The aircraft's first flight was on 27 October 1979, and it entered service with the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1986. It was also operated by the Italian Air Force (AMI) and the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF). The Tornado ADV was originally designed to intercept Soviet bombers as they were traversing across the North Sea with the aim of preventing a successful air-launched nuclear attack against the United Kingdom. In this capacity, it was equipped with a powerful radar and beyond-visual-range missiles; however, initial aircraft produced to the F2 standard lacked radars due to development issues.
