Jon Burton is a British video game director, designer, writer, and programmer. He is the founder of development studio Traveller's Tales and its parent company TT Games. Burton founded Traveller's Tales in 1989. He worked as a designer on ''Puggsy'', ''Mickey Mania'', ''Sonic 3D Blast'' and the ''Lego Star Wars'' series, and has served as programmer for many of their early games. He has received five British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards. Career Burton founded Traveller's Tales in late 1989 and served as creative director of the games. His first game as designer, ''Leander'', was in 1991; next was ''Puggsy'' in 1993. The game enabled Traveller's Tales to expand the company and develop games with bigger companies. John Hill Burton FRSE (22 August 1809 – 10 August 1881) was a Scottish advocate, historian and economist. The author of ''Life and Correspondence of David Hume'', he was secretary of the Scottish Prison Board (1854–77), and Historiographer Royal (1867–1881). Life Burton was born in Aberdeen on 22 August 1809, the son of William Kinninmont Burton (''d''. 1819), a lieutenant in the army, and Elizabeth (''d''. 1848), daughter of John Paton of Grandholm, Aberdeenshire, He was educated at Aberdeen Grammar School and Marischal College. After graduating, he moved to Edinburgh with his widowed mother and his sister, the educational reformer Mary Burton. He studied for the Bar, being admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 1831. In 1832/3 the address of "J.H. Burton advocate" was given as 12 Fettes Row, in Edinburgh's New Town. John Burton (scholar)
John Burton, D.D. (1696–1771) was an English clergyman and academic, a theological and classical scholar. Life Burton was born at Wembworthy, Devon, where his father Samuel Burton was rector. He was educated partly at Okehampton and Blundell's School, Tiverton in his native county, and partly at Ely, where he was placed on his father's death by the Rev. Samuel Bentham, the first cousin of his mother. In 1713 he was elected as a scholar of Corpus Christi College, Oxford, and took his degree of B. A. on 27 June 1717, shortly after which he became the college tutor. He proceeded M.A. 24 March 1720-1, was elected probationary fellow 6 April following, and admitted actual fellow 4 April 1723. John Burton (antiquary)
John Burton, M.D. (1710–1771) was an English physician and antiquary. Early life Burton was born at Colchester in 1710, and was educated at Merchant Taylors' School, London (1725–6), and at St John's College, Cambridge, where he was admitted in 1727 and graduated M.B. in 1733. In 1734 he was practising medicine at Heath, on the outskirts of Wakefield. He was a good Greek and Latin scholar, and attained no little eminence in his profession both in the city and county of York. Already displaying the strong support for the Tory party that he maintained throughout his life, Burton was vigorous on his party's behalf during the bitterly contested county election of 1734. His activities badly affected the success of the Whig interest in York, personified in the prominent local clergyman, the Rev. Dr Jaques Sterne.
