John Buchanan (oil Executive)
Sir John Gordon St Clair Buchanan (9 June 1943 – 13 July 2015) was a New Zealand-born scientist and director. Buchanan was born in Auckland in June 1943 and grew up in Papatoetoe. He received his education at Auckland Grammar School and at the University of Auckland (Bachelor of Science, BSc, Master of Science, MSc, PhD in Chemistry), and at University of Oxford, Oxford and Harvard University, Harvard Universities. The title of this 1967 doctoral thesis at Auckland University was ''The Clemmensen reduction of 1,4-diketones and diterpenoid transformations''. Buchanan joined BP in 1970, where he progressed through the ranks and eventually was appointed by John Browne, Baron Browne of Madingley as the group's top finance executive, which caused surprise given that his background is in science and not in accountancy. John Buchanan (pastor)
John M. Buchanan was the pastor of Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago, Illinois, United States, the second largest congregation in the Presbyterian Church (USA). He is also the editor and publisher of ''The Christian Century''. He was also a member of the General Assembly Council from 1996 to 1999, and served as the moderator of the 208th General Assembly (1996). He was one of the founding co-moderators of The Covenant Network of Presbyterians in 1997. In a letter dated May 18, 2010, Buchanan announced that he would retire from his duties as pastor of Fourth Presbyterian effective January 31, 2012. Buchanan remains heavily involved with Presbyterian Church USA in retirement, serving as an interim preacher at churches in the Chicago area.

John Buchanan (born 19 September 1951) is a Scottish former professional footballer and manager. During his career he played for Ross County, Northampton Town and Cardiff City, developing a reputation as a goalscoring midfielder. Career Buchanan was playing in the Highland Football League for Ross County when he joined Northampton Town in 1970. He soon established himself in the first team and eventually moved to Cardiff City in October 1974 in exchange for John Farrington, making his debut in a 3–2 victory over York City. Cardiff were relegated in his first year at the club but bounced back up to the division the following season. John Buchanan (9 June 1928 – December 2000) was a Scottish football striker. Buchanan started his career with Clyde, and his prolific form saw him get a move to Derby County. He also played for Bradford Park Avenue, before retiring in 1963. He is only one of a handful of Clyde players to have scored four goals in a single match. Derby County won the Third Division North title in 1956–57, but Buchanan only played six league games with a return of five goals. Buchanan was Bradford's leading scorer with 21 goals from 42 games (in 1960–61), as the team won promotion to the Third Division. He was also top scorer with 23 goals in 1958–59. Buchanan received a Scotland B cap in 1952, when he played against a France B team in a 0-0 draw in Toulouse. John Buchanan (15 March 1899 – 3 October 1947) was a Scottish professional footballer. Playing career Buchanan was a versatile player who settled at right half, but could also play at the back or in attack. He started with Johnstone (then a senior team) and moved to St Mirren in 1919, and then to Morton in the summer of 1921. With regular centre-forward George French absent through injury, he led the attack in the Greenock club's surprise Scottish Cup victory of 1922, defeating Rangers 1–0 in the final. He stayed at Cappielow until December 1927, by which time Morton had been relegated from the top division, then joined Rangers who at that time were dominating Scottish football. John Marshall Buchanan (born 5 April 1953) is the former World Cup winning coach of the Australia national cricket team and of Kolkata Knight Riders team in the Indian Premier League. John Buchanan is a King's Old Collegian (University of Queensland, Brisbane) and is also an old boy of The Southport School, located in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. John Nevile Buchanan MC, DSO, (30 May 1887 – 31 October 1969) was a South African born English cricketer. Buchanan was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium-fast. He was born in Grahamstown, Cape Colony and educated at Charterhouse School in England, where he played for and captained the school cricket team, before undertaking studies at Cambridge University. He later served in World War I, becoming by war's end a highly decorated officer. Cricket career Buchanan made his first-class debut for Cambridge University against Yorkshire in 1906. John Young Buchanan FRSE FRS FCS (20 February 1844 – 16 October 1925) was a Scottish chemist, oceanographer and Arctic explorer. He was an important part of the Challenger Expedition. Life He was born in Partickhill, Glasgow on 20 February 1844, the son of Jane Young and her husband, John Buchanan of Dowanhill, a relatively affluent landowner. His brother was the statesman Thomas Ryburn Buchanan. He attended Glasgow High School and then studied chemistry at the University of Glasgow.
