John Robert Boyle
John Robert Boyle, (February 1, 1870 or February 3, 1871 – February 15, 1936) was a Canadian politician and jurist who served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, a cabinet minister in the Government of Alberta, and a judge on the Supreme Court of Alberta. Born in Ontario, he came west and eventually settled in Edmonton, where he practiced law. After a brief stint on Edmonton's first Edmonton City Council, city council, he was elected in 1905 Alberta general election, Alberta's inaugural provincial election as a Alberta Liberal Party, Liberal. During the Alberta and Great Waterways Railway scandal, he was a leader of the Liberal insurgency that forced Premier of Alberta, Premier Alexander Cameron Rutherford from office. Though initially left out of cabinet by Arthur Sifton, Rutherford's successor, Boyle was named Minister of Education in 1912. John Andrew Boyle (1916−1978), was a British orientalist and historian. Life and career He was born at Worcester Park, Surrey, England, on 10 March 1916. He graduated with first class honours in German at Birmingham University. He later pursued the studies of Oriental languages at the universities of Berlin and Göttingen. He completed his doctoral dissertation under the guidance of Vladimir Minorsky. He later became a professor of Persian at Manchester University. John Boyle (bishop)
John Boyle (1563?–1620) was an English Protestant bishop in Ireland. Life He was born in Kent about 1563, the son of Roger Boyle and Joan Naylor, and the elder brother of Richard Boyle, 1st Earl of Cork. John Boyle obtained the degree of D.D. at Oxford, and became Rector of Elstree sometime between 1598-1611. He was collated prebendary of Lichfield on 5 February 1611. Through the interest and pecuniary assistance of his brother the Earl of Cork, and other relatives, he was, in 1617 appointed Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, the consecration taking place in 1618. He died at Cork on 10 July 1620, and is laid to rest with his brother Richard in an impressive tomb in St Mary's Collegiate Church at Youghal. There is also a memorial to his parents in Preston church. He left a daughter, Barbara, who married firstly Sir John Browne of Hospital, County Limerick, who was killed in a duel, and secondly Colonel John FitzGerald. John Boyle (born 22 October 1986) is a Scottish footballer who played for Airdrieonians, as a striker. He formerly played for Townhead Amateurs, Raith Rovers, Stirling Albion and Auchinleck Talbot. John Boyle (footballer, Born 1946)
John Boyle (born 25 December 1946) is a Scottish former footballer who played during the 1960s and 1970s. Born in Motherwell, he signed for London club Chelsea as a 15-year-old whilst on holiday in the city. Boyle was one of the lesser-known, but nevertheless important, members of the successful Chelsea side of the period, usually playing in the midfield ball-winner role. He made his Chelsea debut in a League Cup semi-final against Aston Villa and ultimately picked up a winners' medal in that competition the same year after playing in Chelsea's two-legged final victory over Leicester City. He played in Chelsea's FA Cup final loss to Tottenham Hotspur two years later but missed out due to injury when they won their FA Cup final against Leeds United in 1970. Johnny Boyle (1931 – 25 February 2017), also known as Seán O'Boyle, was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played for club sides Air Corps and Clanna Gael and at inter-county level with the Dublin senior football team. Career Boyle first came to prominence during his schooldays at De La Salle College in Kildare, during which time he served as captain of the Kildare minor team for three years. He subsequently declared for the Dublin senior team and, after making his debut in 1953 against Meath, ended the season with the first of three National League titles. Two years later hBoyle ad secured his first Leinster Championship medal, while he also lined out in the 1955 All-Ireland final defeat by Kerry. He won three provincial titles in total, and played at left wing-back in the 1958 All-Ireland final defeat of Derry. John Anthony Boyle (March 22, 1866 – January 7, 1913), nicknamed "Honest Jack", was an American catcher and first baseman in Major League Baseball. His younger brother, Eddie Boyle, played in 1896. Baseball career Born in Cincinnati, Boyle began his professional baseball career in 1886, playing in one game for the Cincinnati Red Stockings of the American Association. On November 12, 1886, he was traded, along with $350, to the St. Louis Browns in exchange for Hugh Nicol. In 1887, Boyle caught only a couple of games until July 3. Although some sources credit Boyle with having caught 87 straight games, the correct statistic is 43 straight games--after that he played right field, ending his then-record streak. Boyle went to Valparaiso University and then received his law degree from Indiana University Maurer School of Law.
