John Boden (footballer)
John William Boden (q1 1882 – 19 March 1946) was an English professional association football, footballer who played in the Football League for Glossop North End A.F.C., Glossop, Leyton Orient F.C., Clapton Orient and Aston Villa F.C., Aston Villa in the 1900s. He appeared in Clapton Orient's first Football League match in 1905. A Defender (association football), defender or half back, he later played for Northwich Victoria F.C., Northwich Victoria before moving into the Southern Football League, Southern League to play for Reading F.C., Reading, Croydon Common F.C., Croydon Common, Plymouth Argyle F.C., Plymouth Argyle, and Gillingham F.C., Gillingham. The Southern League is a men's football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from the South and Midlands of England. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system.
