John Bevan (cricketer)
John Lawrence Bevan (10 May 1846 – 31 March 1918) was an Australian cricketer. He played one first-class cricket, first-class match for South Australia cricket team, South Australia in 1877/88. It was South Australia's inaugural first-class match. Despite taking 14 wickets at an Bowling average, average of 4.21, and South Australia's innings victory over Tasmania cricket team, Tasmania, he never played first-class cricket again. He did, however, play a number of non-first-class matches for South Australia between 1877 and 1882. John Bevan (rugby)
John Charles Bevan (born 28 October 1950) is a Welsh international rugby footballer of the 1970s and 1980s. He is one of two John Bevans who played for Wales during the 1970s. Rugby career His début for Wales came on 16 January 1971 during the Five Nations Championship when Wales played England. He crowned the win with a try as Wales ran out 22-6 winners. He played in all of the other games in the tournament, but did not score again, as Wales went on to win the championship and the Grand Slam. Starting his career in rugby union, he played for the Cardiff club and after being capped for Wales in 1971, Bevan toured Australia and New Zealand with the British Lions. He played in 14 matches including the first test and scored a total of 18 tries. The 17 scored in New Zealand equalled the record of Tony O'Reilly. John Bevan (rugby Union)
John David Bevan (12 March 1948 – 5 June 1986) was a Welsh international rugby union footballer, one of two John Bevans who played for Wales during the 1970s. Bevan was born in Neath. He played for Aberavon RFC, the British Lions and The Barbarians. He formed a formidable club half back partnership with Clive Shell, and was a player got the most out of players outside of him. During his playing career he rivalled Phil Bennett for the Welsh No 10 position. Bennett originally held the place but the club performances of Bevan put him in the ascendancy during the 1974–75 season. A fly half, capped four times for Wales, he won his first cap against France in Paris in January 1975, following a sound performance playing for The Barbarians in the drawn game (12–12) against the touring All Blacks at Twickenham the previous month. John Bevan (politician)
John Bevan (1837 – 16 July 1911) was a 19th-century member of the House of Representatives. He was an auctioneer and merchant from Hokitika on the West Coast of New Zealand. Early life and commercial career Bevan was born in Jersey on the Channel Islands in 1837 into a Welsh family. He received his education at Jersey Grammar School and emigrated to Victoria in Australia in 1857 before moving to Hokitika in New Zealand in circa 1865. He entered a partnership with Michael Pollock and they traded as auctioneers and merchants under the banner of Pollock and Bevan in Hokitika's Revell Street. He remained in Hokitika for the rest of his life. Political career Bevan belonged to many organisations. He was a longstanding member of the Westland Board of Education and for some time was the board's chairman. He was a member of the High School Board. Colonel (United Kingdom), Colonel John Henry "Johnny" Bevan (5 April 1894 – 3 December 1978) was a British Army officer who, during the Second World War, made an important contribution to military deception, culminating in Operation Bodyguard, the plan to conceal the D-Day landings in Normandy. In civilian life he was a respected stockbroker in his father's firm. Bevan had an upper-class upbringing, including an education at Eton College, Eton and University of Oxford, Oxford. During the First World War he fought with the Hertfordshire Regiment in France and later became involved with intelligence analysis. His latter work came to the attention of wartime leaders, including Winston Churchill. Bevan stayed in the army for a while following the end of the war, and then took up a career in stock brokerage. John "Johnnie" Bevan (born November 1, 1976) is an American former competitive figure skater. He finished in the top six at two World Junior Championships. Personal life Bevan was born on November 1, 1976. He married Kathy Larsen, with whom he has two children, Kendall and Drew. Career Bevan began skating at age three. Early in his career, he was coached by Joan Bellessa at the Lilac City FSC in Spokane, Washington. Competing in men's singles, he won the U.S. junior national bronze medal in 1993 and 1994. He placed fourth at the 1993 World Junior Championships in Seoul, South Korea, and sixth at the 1994 World Junior Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bevan withdrew from the 1995 World Junior Championships in Budapest, Hungary. By 2000, he was coached by Frank Carroll in El Segundo, California.
