Miles Coverdale Stocks Barron (1871 – 9 September 1924) was an English Association football, football administrator and manager. Personal life Miles Barron was born in 1871 in Waterhouses, County Durham, Waterhouses, a borough located to the west of the city of Durham, England, Durham. The exact date of birth is not known, but he was registered in the civil registry of Durham between July and September of that year. Barron, the eldest of four children, was born to John Barron (1840–1915), a Mining engineering, colliery manager from Durham, and Grace Stocks (1841–1913). As a young man, Barron was an employee of Pease and Partners Ltd, the same company for which his father worked. Barron married Mary Ann Bird in 1893, and they initially settled in the town of Lynesack and later in St Helen Auckland, both near West Auckland. They had five children. History Joseph Pease, a Darlington Quaker, obtained permission in the mid-1850s to mine coal near High Waterhouse, which was a farm on the Brancepeth estate. The land was then owned by Gustavus Russell Hamilton-Russell and his wife Emma Maria, descendants of Viscount Boyne, Sir Frederick Hamilton of Dromahere. There were initial difficulties in the mining, but Pease sinkers eventually located coal, and the Deerness Valley Railway was laid from a junction at the North Eastern Railway at Relly, up the Deerness valley to the new coal pit.
