John Allison (Canadian Politician)
John Allison (1753 – March 1, 1821) was an Ireland, Irish-born farmer, merchant and politician in Nova Scotia. He represented Newport Township in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1811 to 1820. He was born near Limavady, the son of Joseph Allison and Alice Polk (or Pollock). He came to Nova Scotia with his family in 1769. The family originally planned to settle in Philadelphia but their ship was wrecked on Sable Island and the family purchased a farm in Horton (later Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Wolfville) in Kings County, Nova Scotia. In 1779, Allison married Nancy Whidden. He lived in Horton but later moved to Newport, Nova Scotia, Newport. He died in Newport. His son James Whidden Allison, James and his brother Joseph Allison (Canadian politician), Joseph also served in the provincial assembly. John Allison (Representative)
John Allison (August 5, 1812 – March 23, 1878) was an American politician, most notably serving in the U.S. House as a Representative of Pennsylvania during the 1850s. Allison was born in Beaver, Pennsylvania and grew up to study law. He was the son of James Allison, Jr. He was admitted to the bar, but did not practice, instead establishing a hat factory. He served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1846, 1847, and 1849; he ran successfully for the U.S. House as a Whig in the 1850 election. He lost his bid for re-election in 1852, but won back the seat in 1854 as an Oppositionist. He then retired from the House in 1856. John Fall Allison
John Fall Allison (1825–1897) was a pioneer settler, Justice of the Peace, Postmaster and Gold Commissioner in the Similkameen Country of the Southern Interior of British Columbia, Canada. Life and career Allison was born in Leeds in West Yorkshire, England in 1828. In 1837, he emigrated with his parents to the United States. In 1849, he went prospecting in California. In 1858, during the Fraser River Gold Rush, Allison travelled to the Colony of British Columbia and arrived in Vermillion Forks (now Princeton) in 1860. Allison was the first European settler in the area, where he staked gold, copper and coal claims and established the first cattle ranch. In 1862, Allison married a First Nations woman named Nora Yakumtikum, with whom he had four children. In 1868, he married Susan Louisa Moir. Together John and Susan had fourteen children. John Moore Allison (April 7, 1905 – October 28, 1978) was an American diplomat who served as the United States Ambassador to Japan from 1953 to 1957. From 1957 to 1958, he was Ambassador to Indonesia and from 1958 to 1960 to Czechoslovakia. In the 1960s and 1970s, he was a professor at the University of Hawaii. Early life Allison was born in Holton, Kansas and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. He graduated from Lincoln High School and earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Nebraska. Declining a scholarship to pursue graduate work at Nebraska, and refusing to go to work for his father, Allison accepted a post as an English teacher Japan in 1927. John Allison (born 1976) is a comic writer and artist. He has been producing comics since 1998 and his work has won multiple Eisner Awards. Biography Allison started creating webcomics in 1998 with '' Bobbins'', a series which ran on Keenspot. He ended ''Bobbins'' in 2002, later saying that he had fallen out of love with the rough and ready nature of 'Bobbins', and at the same time started a new comic, ''Scary Go Round''.
