Wilhelm Johannsen
Wilhelm Johannsen (3 February 1857 – 11 November 1927) was a Danish pharmacist, botanist, plant physiologist, and geneticist. He is best known for coining the terms gene, phenotype and genotype, and for his 1903 "pure line" experiments in genetics. Biography Johannsen was born in Copenhagen. While very young, he was apprenticed to a pharmacist and worked in Denmark and Germany beginning in 1872 until passing his pharmacist's exam in 1879. In 1881, he became assistant in the chemistry department at the Carlsberg Laboratory under the chemist Johan Kjeldahl. Johannsen studied the metabolism of dormancy and germination in seeds, tubers and buds. He showed that dormancy could be broken by various anesthetic compounds, such as diethyl ether and chloroform. In 1892, he was appointed lecturer at Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University and later became professor of botany and plant physiology. He taught plant physiology. Gunnar Johannsen (born 1940) is a German cyberneticist, and Emeritus Professor of Systems Engineering and Human-Machine Systems at the University of Kassel, known for his contributions in the field of human-machine systems. Biography Born and raised in Hamburg, Johannsen received his Dipl.-Ing. in communication and information engineering from the Technical University of Berlin in 1967, where in 1971 he also received his Dr.-Ing. in flight guidance and manual control. Kurt Johannsen (bush Mechanic)
Kurt Gerhardt Johannsen (11 January 1915 – 23 January 2002) was an Australian bush mechanic who developed the world's first commercial road train. He was also an aviator, fencing contractor, inventor, labourer, mailman and miner and known a "true son of the Red Centre", referring to the southern desert region of the Northern Territory in Australia. Early life Johannsen was born at Deep Well Station, 80 km south of Alice Springs, to Gerhardt and Ottilie Johannsen. Gerhardt had emigrated from Denmark and Ottilie was of German descent and the family often experienced discrimination throughout Kurt's childhood, the period in between the two World Wars, and Gerhardt was often referred to as "The German" or "The Hun". Kyle Johannsen is a Canadian philosopher who is the author of a ''A Conceptual Investigation of Justice'' (2018) and ''Wild Animal Ethics'' (2020). He specialises in animal and environmental ethics, as well as political and social philosophy. He is presently affiliated with Trent University, Wilfrid Laurier University, and Queen's University. Helmuth Johannsen
Helmuth Johannsen (27 February 1920 – 3 November 1998) was a German professional football player and manager. Johannsen played for St. Pauli, a club which he also served as vice-president for a year from 1987 to 1988, but a war injury forced him to give up his playing career early. After World War II he went on to become a manager, most notably leading Eintracht Braunschweig to a surprising Bundesliga championship in 1966–67. Kristoffer H (born 24 February 1977) is a Danish former professional footballer and now manager, who currently is the manager of Næsby BK. He has played 24 games and scored one goal for various Danish national youth teams, including seven games for the Denmark national under-21 football team. Oskar Augustus Johannsen (14 May 1870, Davenport, Iowa – 7 November 1961, Ithaca, New York), was an American entomologist who specialised in Diptera. Johannsen earned degrees from the University of Illinois and Cornell University.
