Johannisborg
Johannisborg is the ruin of a fortification located in Norrköping Municipality, Östergötland County, Sweden. The foundations for Johannisborg dates to 1614. The fortifications were largely finished in 1618. The architect of the project was Flemish architect Hans Fleming (1545- 1623). When Russians invaded in 1719, Johannisborg was burned down. Hans Fleming
Hans Fleming (born around 1545 in Namur, died in 1623) was a Flemish fortress builder, architect and sculptor active in Sweden. He was born in Namur, Habsburg Netherlands, present-day Belgium. Hans Fleming, who was active in Lübeck in the 1560s, was summoned to Sweden by Johan III and became the architect at Vadstena Castle on 11 August 1590, and in 1603 also started his work at Jönköping's castle. In 1605 he was also working at Älvsborg, Gullberg, Nylöse and the newly built Karl IX's Göteborg. As early as 1603, however, Fleming had been called in to decide what should be built on Älvsborg and Gullberg, and at the beginning of the following year he had mapped out the new town on Hisingen, for which he had completed a drawing, as well as for its fortification. Norrköping Municipality
Norrköping Municipality (''Norrköpings kommun'') is a municipality in Östergötland County in southeast Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Norrköping, with some 90,000 inhabitants. It is the largest municipality in Östergötland. By the time of the local government reform of 1971 the ''City of Norrköping'' was amalgamated with the rural municipality of ''Skärblacka'' forming a new municipality of unitary type. Östergötland County ( sv, Östergötlands län) is a county or ''län'' in southeastern Sweden. It has land borders with the counties of Kalmar to the southeast, Jönköping to the southwest, Örebro to the northwest, and Södermanland to the northeast.
