Karl Gerhardt (director)
Karl Gerhardt (1853-1940) was an American sculptor, best known for his death mask of President Ulysses S. Grant and a portrait bust of Mark Twain. Biography Karl Gerhardt was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on January 7, 1853. He attended Phillips School in Boston. By 1870 he was apprenticed to a house painter in Chicopee, Massachusetts, where he later became a machinist at Ames Foundry. He showed considerable talent in mechanics, and later became a designer of machinery at Hartford, Connecticut. In 1874, he went to California. By 1880, he had returned east to Hartford, and married Harriet Josephine Gloyd. He worked for a spell as chief machinist at the Pratt and Whitney Machine Tool Company in Hartford and pursued sculpting in his leisure hours. His first known sculpture was a bust of his wife, Josie, titled, ''A Startled Bather''. Loni Nest
Eleonore "Loni" Arnault ( Nest, 4 August 1915 – 2 October 1990), known professionally by her maiden name of Loni Nest, was a German actress. Born in Berlin, she was a child star of German silent films in the 1920s. She was filmed for the first time at the age of four weeks. Life and film career After more than 40 movies, she ended her movie career in 1928 at the age of 13. In 1933 she played in one last movie in France. Her whereabouts after 1933 remained unknown for several decades, but it was eventually discovered that she died at the age of 75 on 2 October 1990 in the French town Nice. In 2014, the website Forever Missed published an obituary that ostensibly revealed that Nest had died in Hawaii in 2014 at the age of 98. Erich Pommer (20 July 1889 – 8 May 1966) was a German-born film producer and executive. Pommer was perhaps the most powerful person in the German and European film industries in the 1920s and early 1930s. As producer, Erich Pommer was involved in the German Expressionist film movement during the silent era.
