Johanna Of Hanau-Lichtenberg, Countess Of Eberstein
Johanna of Hanau-Lichtenberg, Countess of Eberstein (1507 – 27 January 1572) was a German noblewoman, the eldest daughter of Philipp III, Count of Hanau-Lichtenberg (18 October 1482 – 15 May 1538) and Margravine Sibylle of Baden (26 April 1485 – 10 July 1518). Life Johanna was married on 6 November 1522 to Count Wilhelm IV of Eberstein (3 May 1497 – 1 July 1562). Her husband chaired the Reichskammergericht from 1546 to 1555. Johanna and William are mentioned several times in the ''Zimmern Chronicle''. She died on 27 January 1572 at Eberstein Castle in Gernsbach. Two days later, Johanna was buried in the parish church of Gernsbach. An epitaph, which shows her and her husband, can still be seen there. Philipp III, Count Of Hanau-Lichtenberg
Philipp III of Hanau-Lichtenberg (18 October 1482 – 15 May 1538, Bouxwiller (german: Buchsweiler)) was the third Count of Hanau-Lichtenberg. Childhood and youth Philipp III was the eldest son of Count Philipp II of Hanau-Lichtenberg and his wife Anna of Isenburg-Büdingen. During the War of the Succession of Landshut (1503–1505) between Bavaria and the Electorate of the Palatinate, Philipp's father had remained neutral. Philipp, however, had sided with the Palatinate and against his father. The Palatinate side lost the war and an imperial ban was issued by the King of the Romans and later Emperor, Maximilian I, against their leaders, who were accused of breaching the peace. Wilhelm II, Landgrave of Hesse was tasked with enforcing this ban. The County of Katzenelnbogen was an immediate state of the Holy Roman Empire. Chatti Melibokus is a very old tribe who stayed on a high hill in the Bergstraße region of Hesse (the part that lies south), in Germany. Charles I of Baden (1427 – 24 February 1475, Pforzheim) was a Margrave of Baden-Baden during 1454–1475. Charles was the elder son of Jacob, Margrave of Baden-Baden, and his wife Catherine, daughter of Charles II, Duke of Lorraine. The House of Nassau is a diversified aristocratic dynasty in Europe. Isenburg-Büdingen was a County of southern Hesse, Germany, located in Büdingen. It was originally a part of the County of Isenburg. There were two different Counties of the same name. The first (1341–1511) was a partition of Isenburg-Cleberg, and was partitioned into Isenburg-Büdingen-Birstein and Isenburg-Ronneburg in 1511. The second (1628–1806) was a partition of Isenburg-Büdingen-Birstein. It was partitioned between itself, Isenburg-Meerholz and Isenburg-Wächtersbach in 1673, and was mediatised to Isenburg in 1806. In 1816 Isenburg was partitioned between the Grand Duchy of Hesse-Darmstadt and the Electorate of Hesse-Kassel. Count Ernest Casimir (1801-1848) was elevated to the rank of prince by Louis II, Grand Duke of Hesse, in 1840. Christopher I of Baden (13 November 1453 – 19 April 1527) was the Margrave of Baden from 1475 to 1515. Life Christopher was the eldest son of Charles I, Margrave of Baden-Baden and Catherine of Austria, a sister of Frederick III, Holy Roman Emperor. He regained the territories that were lost by his father to the Palatinate and its allies. Christopher maneuvered to keep these territories united under his son and successor Philip I, but his efforts were thwarted by Louis XII of France.
