Johanna Hamann
Johanna Hamann Mazuré (Lima, Peru. July 21, 1954-April 7, 2017) was a Peruvian sculptor. She emerged as a contemporary artist in the early 1980s and she is known for her sculptures that explore and represent the human body through unconventional perspectives. She became a professor at Pontifical Catholic University of Peru in 1984. Later, she became the director of studies of PCUP's Department of Art and Design and researcher of the public art of Lima. Education Hamann studied at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PCUP) where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a mention in sculpture. She continued her education at PCUP and received a master's degree in Humanities. In 2011, she received her Phd in Public Space and Urban Regeneration from the University of Barcelona. Her doctoral dissertation, ''Monumentos Públicos y Espacios Urbanos. Peruvian Sculptors
Peruvians ( es, peruanos) are the citizens of Peru. There were Andean and coastal ancient civilizations like Caral, which inhabited what is now Peruvian territory for several millennia before the Spanish conquest in the 16th century; Peruvian population decreased from an estimated 5–9 million in the 1520s to around 600,000 in 1620 mainly because of infectious diseases carried by the Spanish. Spaniards and Africans arrived in large numbers in 1532 under colonial rule, mixing widely with each other and with Native Peruvians. During the Republic, there has been a gradual immigration of European people (especially from Spain and Italy, and in a less extent from Germany, France, Croatia, and the British Isles). Chinese and Japanese arrived in large numbers at the end of the 19th century. With 31.2 million inhabitants according to the 2017 Census, Peru is the fifth most populous country in South America.
