The 2013 Johan Cruyff Shield was the eighteenth edition of the Johan Cruyff Shield ( nl, Johan Cruijff Schaal), an annual Dutch football match played between the winners of the previous season's Eredivisie and KNVB Cup. The match was contested by AZ, the 2012–13 KNVB Cup winners, and Ajax, champions of the 2012–13 Eredivisie. It was held at the Amsterdam Arena on 27 July 2013. Ajax won the match 3–2 after extra time. Alkmaar Zaanstreek (), better known as AZ Alkmaar or simply AZ (), is a Dutch professional football club from Alkmaar and the Zaan district. Esteban Alvarado Brown (born 28 April 1989) is a Costa Rican professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Liga FPD club Herediano and the Costa Rica national team. Willie Overtoom (born 2 September 1986) is a Cameroonian former professional footballer who played as an offensive midfielder. He is the son of a Dutch father and a Cameroonian mother, and has lived the first three years of his life in Cameroon before moving to the Netherlands. Overtoom holds a Dutch passport. Club career Overtoom started playing football at amateur side Victoria Obdam and became an exponent of the AZ youth academy at the age of 13. Roy Johannes Henricus Beerens (; born 22 December 1987) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a right winger.
