Joggers' Park
Jogger's Park is a seaside jogging track along with a park in Bandra, Mumbai. It is situated at the southern end of the Carter Road. The park was opened to the public on 27 May 1990 and receives more than 2000 visitors on weekdays and double the number on Sundays. Its jogging track is 400 metres long. It features a mud strip for running and two paved tracks for walking or jogging. Development of the park is credited to the city's veteran hockey coach and former corporator, Oliver Andrade. Andrade's effort to rope in films star Dilip Kumar and Sunil Dutt, transformed the site from a dumping ground into a jogging track. The movie star's fund raising efforts led to financial assistance from the Rahejas, the Lokhandwalas and the Rizvi builders at a cost of ₹4 crore. In his memory, a plaque at the entrance of the park reads "From Sir with Love". Mumbai's first laughter club was launched at Joggers Park. Jogging is a form of trotting or running at a slow or leisurely pace. The main intention is to increase physical fitness with less stress on the body than from faster running but more than walking, or to maintain a steady speed for longer periods of time. Bandra
Bandra (Indian English, [bæːɳɖɾa]) also known as Vandre (Help:IPA/Marathi, [ʋaːn̪d̪ɾe]) is an upscale coastal suburb located in Mumbai (Bombay) area of the Konkan division, Maharashtra, India. The suburb is located to the immediate north of River Mithi, which separates Bandra from Mumbai City district. Originally, Bandra was a larger area, whence the present day Khar, Mumbai, Khar neighbourhood was also a part of it. Almost a century ago, it was considered too large a suburb to be served by one railway station. Therefore, the Khar Road railway station was established in 1924, to give the northern part of Bandra closer access to the Western Railway (India), Western Railway line. Carter Road Promenade
The Carter Road Promenade is a 1.25 kilometre-long walkway along the sea on the western coast of Mumbai, India. This promenade was opened up to the public in January 2002. The promenade has been managed by the Bandra West Residents' Association. The Carter Road Promenade extends up to Khar Danda. In May 2008, Carter Road was renamed as Sangeet Samrat Naushad Ali Marg, in the memory of Naushad Ali, a music director. Geography Carter Road has a sea-facing location connecting Khar Danda in the north with Turner Road, Bandra in the south. The promenade is located along the Arabian sea on the west-coast of Bandra and Khar. The walkway is 4,800 feet long. ''Mid-Day'' (stylised as mid-day) is a morning daily Indian compact newspaper owned by Jagran Prakashan Limited. Editions in various languages were published in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Pune. In 2011, the Delhi and Bangalore editions were closed down. In 2014, Jagran Prakashan shut down the mid-day Pune edition as well. Sunil Dutt (born Balraj Dutt; 6 June 1929 — 25 May 2005) was an Indian actor, film producer, director and politician. Laughter Club
Laughter yoga (''Hasyayoga'') is a modern exercise involving prolonged voluntary laughter. This type of yoga is based on the belief that voluntary laughter provides similar physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter. It is usually done in groups, with eye contact and much playfulness between participants. Intentional laughter often turns into real and contagious laughter. Laughter yoga was popularized by family physician Madan Kataria who modernized and simplified the work of earlier laughter pioneers, who taught very similar concepts starting in the 1960s.
