Joey Melo
Jose "Joey" Alberto Oliveira Melo (born January 25, 1989) is a former Canadian professional soccer player. Club career Melo played youth soccer with Dixie SC. Melo began his professional career in 2007 after signing a contract with Toronto FC of the Major League Soccer. He made his professional debut on June 17, 2007 as a 92nd-minute substitute against FC Dallas. He made five substitute appearances in 2007 and also played in friendly matches against Portuguese club Benfica and English club Aston Villa, but did not make any league appearances in 2008. Toronto declined to exercise his contract option for the 2009 season. In February 2009, he went on trial with USL club Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Milton (Canada 2016 Census, 2016 census population 110,128) is a town in Southern Ontario, Canada, and part of the Regional Municipality of Halton, Halton Region in the Greater Toronto Area. League1 Ontario (L1O) is a semi-professional men's soccer league in Ontario, Canada. The league began play in 2014 and is sanctioned by the Canadian Soccer Association and the Ontario Soccer Association as a pro-am league in the Canadian soccer league system. As of the 2022 season, L1O includes 22 teams. Beginning in 2024, the league will become a three-tier league featuring promotion and relegation. In the Canadian soccer league system, the men's division is behind the Canadian Premier League (CPL). The North York Astros were a Canadian soccer team that was founded in 1990. The team initially played in the National Soccer League. The team played their home games at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York, a district of the city of Toronto, Canada. The team's colours were orange and black. MLS Reserve League
The MLS Reserve League was a soccer league for the reserve teams of Major League Soccer with teams in both the United States and Canada. It was inaugurated on April 9, 2005, with the first official reserve game being a 2–0 victory by Chivas USA over the host San Jose Earthquakes. The reserve division disbanded after the 2008 season but returned in 2011 with 18 clubs split into East, Central, and West divisions.
