Joen Jacobsen

	Joen Jacobsen Joen Jacobsen (1714 – 12 January 1768) was a Norwegian master builder. He was born in Skien to carpenter Jacob Vetlesen. He was responsible for the construction of a number of churches in Telemark, including Langesund Church (from 1753 onwards), Vestre Porsgrunn Church (1756–1758), Østre Porsgrunn Church ( finished 1760) and Solum Church Solum Church ( no, Solum kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Skien Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Solum, just west of the town of Skien. It is one of the churches for the ''Kilebygda og ... (finished 1766). 	Porsgrunn City Hall Porsgrunn City Hall is the seat of government for Porsgrunn city and municipality in Telemark, Norway. The current city hall was constructed in 1905 after the original building was destroyed in a fire. The building is situated at the intersection of Storgata and Rådhusgata in eastern Porsgrunn. History Original building The first city hall in Porsgrunn was originally part of a farm called the Chamberlain Estate ( no, Kammerherregården). The farmhouse was built for Niels Aall between 1763 and 1765 by the master builder Joen Jacobsen, who was famous for building Grenland churches such as Østre Porsgrunn Church. Jacobsen built the farmhouse using the pattern of Herregården, a count's manor house in Larvik, after which he had also modeled the house at Borgestad Farm in Skien a few years earlier. History Planning In the mid-1700s, the wealthy population of Porsgrunn wanted a new church on the east side of the neighborhood. The reason for this was mainly prestige but also politics, as the building of a grand church in Porsgrunn would prove that the neighborhood in Skien was prosperous enough to be a city in its own right. 	Langesund Church Langesund Church ( no, Langesund kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bamble Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the town of Langesund. It is the church for the Langesund parish which is part of the Bamble prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, brick church was built in a rectangular design in 1992 using plans drawn up by the architect Tor Arild Danielsen. The church seats about 340 people. History From 1753 to 1755, a church was built in Langesund. It was consecrated on 22 July 1755 Bishop Niels Dorph. The church went by the name Bethel and it had about 450 seats. This was a timber long church that had a tower with a church porch at the foot of the tower. Later, a sacristy was added.
