Joel Schwartz
Joel Schwartz (born December 12, 1947 in Long Island, New York, United States) is an American epidemiologist, and Professor of Environmental Epidemiology, at Harvard University, School of Public Health. He graduated from Brandeis University , mottoeng = "Truth even unto its innermost parts" , established = , type = Private research university , accreditation = NECHE , president = Ronald D. Liebowitz , ... with a Ph.D. in 1980. He identified the environmental exposure of lead in gasoline, which led to its ban. He is a partner of the Michigan Metals Epidemiology Research Group. Long Island is a densely populated island in the southeastern region of the U.S. state of New York, part of the New York metropolitan area. The MacArthur Fellows Program, also known as the MacArthur Fellowship and commonly but unofficially known as the "Genius Grant", is a prize awarded annually by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation typically to between 20 and 30 individuals, working in any field, who have shown "extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits and a marked capacity for self-direction" and are citizens or residents of the United States.
