Joel Kinnaman
Charles Joel Nordström Kinnaman (; born 25 November 1979) is a Swedish-American actor and model who first gained recognition for his roles in the Swedish film ''Easy Money'' and the '' Johan Falk'' crime series. Kinnaman is known internationally for his television roles as Detective Stephen Holder in AMC's '' The Killing'', Takeshi Kovacs in the first season of ''Altered Carbon,'' and Governor Will Conway in the U.S. version of ''House of Cards''. He has also played Alex Murphy in the 2014 ''RoboCop'' remake, and Rick Flag in the Warner Bros. film adaptations of the DC Comics anti-hero team ''Suicide Squad'' (2016), as well as James Gunn's 2021 sequel/soft reboot, '' The Suicide Squad''. Since 2019, he has starred as NASA astronaut Ed Baldwin in the Apple TV+ science fiction drama series '' For All Mankind''. Takeshi Lev Kovacs is the protagonist in the books ''Altered Carbon'', '' Broken Angels'', and '' Woken Furies'' by Richard K. Morgan, which take place in or around the 26th century. Fictional history Novels Kovacs was human born in the city of Newpest, on November 23, 2100 at the planet Harlan's World. He is of Japanese and Eastern European (possibly Hungarian or Serbian) descent. Kovacs is a former Envoy, a member of an elite military force of futuristic soldiers, part intelligence operative and part shock trooper, trained to adapt quickly to new bodies and new environments. Envoys are used by the governing Protectorate to infiltrate and crush planetary unrest and maintain political stability. Envoy training is actually a form of psychospiritual conditioning that operates at subconscious levels. After leaving the Envoys, Kovacs returned to criminal life and became a mercenary. San Diego Comic-Con International is a comic book convention and nonprofit multi-genre entertainment event held annually in San Diego, California since 1970.
