Joel Gion
Joel Gion (; born ) is an American musician, best known as the tambourine player for the psychedelic rock band The Brian Jonestown Massacre. He was a guest star on the U.S. television show ''Gilmore Girls'', where he played the tambourine in the fictitious band Hep Alien. The Brian Jonestown Massacre He appeared in the 2004 documentary '' Dig!'' along with the rest of the Brian Jonestown Massacre, and is featured prominently on the cover of the DVD of the same film. His image is also on the cover of the Brian Jonestown Massacre album '' Thank God For Mental Illness'' (and a very distended image of him can be seen on '' Give It Back!''). He is the third longest-serving member of the Brian Jonestown Massacre, after band leader Anton Newcombe and guitarist-vocalist Matt Hollywood. Derek See (born June 6, 1975) is an American musician, music producer and music writer. He has performed as a soloist as well as with The Chocolate Watchband, The Gentle Cycle, The Bang Girl Group Revue, Joel Gion & The Primary Colours, Myron & E, and The Rain Parade, and Careless Hearts. See began playing guitar with The Chocolate Watchband in the fall of 2015, and also plays in Country Joe McDonald's Electric Music Band. After meeting Iggy and the Stooges guitarist James Williamson, interviewing him for a Fretboard Journal magazine article, See rehearsed and played guitar at a concert with Williamson at The Blank Club in San Jose on September 5, 2009. Matt Hollywood (born June 11, 1973) is an American indie rock guitarist and singer. He was a founding member and leader of the Portland-based indie rock band The Out Crowd, as well as a founding member of the psychedelic rock band The Brian Jonestown Massacre. He currently fronts the drone rock band The Rebel Drones. He was born in Syracuse, New York in 1973. He grew up in and around Ventura, California, and now resides in Los Angeles, California. The Imajinary Friends Hollywood had been involved with the neo-psychedelic/surrealist rock band, The Imajinary Friends, that spawned from the original line-up of The Brian Jonestown Massacre in 1993. The band consisted of Travis Threlkel, Ricky Maymi (both from The BJM), Matt Hollywood, Graham Bonnar (of Swervedriver) and Tim Digulla (later of Tipsy). Anton Newcombe
Anton Alfred Newcombe (born August 29, 1967) is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and founder of the music group The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Newcombe was the subject of the 2004 documentary film '' Dig!'', along with Portland, Oregon alternative rock band The Dandy Warhols. Music Newcombe started in the 1980s recording with a band called Homeland. Besides his own group, Newcombe has worked with a number of bands, most notably The Dandy Warhols, The High Dials, The Manvils, Innaway, and The Quarter After. He recorded and produced Dead Meadow's album ''Got Live If You Want It (Dead Meadow album), Got Live if You Want It'', and recorded a cover of Ewan MacColl's song "Dirty Old Town" with Lorraine Leckie on her 2008 album ''Four Cold Angels''. ''Give It Back!'' is the sixth studio album by the American psychedelic rock band The Brian Jonestown Massacre, released in 1997 by the Bomp! record label. Background and recording Notably, this is the only album with Peter Hayes, who later founded the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The sessions for the record were filmed for the documentary '' Dig!''. Though only a couple of minutes of these sessions appear in the film, the second disc of the double-disc DVD has more footage from the sessions, including the recording of "Not If You Were the Last Dandy on Earth", the guitar track for "Servo" and the vocals for "Super-Sonic". The latter song includes a sample of The Dandy Warhols' song "Be-In", the opening track from their '' ...The Dandy Warhols Come Down'' album.
