Joe Zane
Joe Zane (born 1971 in Utica, New York) is an American artist. His work uses painting, sculpture, video, performance and self-deprecating humour to address the themes of authenticity and the role of the artist. He currently lives in Cambridge, MA and previously worked at the Center for Advanced Visual Studies at MIT. He has participated in group exhibitions at the List Visual Arts Center (2003), MassMOCA (2009) and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston (2005+2008), where he contributed 31 drawings of conceptual artists. For his 2006 solo show at Allston Skirt he exhibited a series of paintings of famous art forgers. In 2008 he was shortlisted for the James and Audrey Foster Prize, awarded by the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston to support artists working in the Boston area. List Visual Arts Center
Established in 1950, the List Visual Arts Center (LVAC) is the contemporary art museum of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It is known for temporary exhibitions in its galleries located in the MIT Media Lab building, as well as its administration of the permanent art collection distributed throughout the university campus, faculty offices, and student housing. Artadia is an American arts non-profit organization founded in 1999. They are headquartered in New York City, and support visual artists with unrestricted, merit-based financial awards as well as other opportunities. History Artadia was founded in San Francisco in 1999 by businessman and art collector Christopher E. Vroom and a group of art collectors and philanthropists who sought to increase financial and professional support for artists. In 2002, Artadia relocated to New York and increased the geographical scope of its grant making to include seven cities: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco. Allston is an officially recognized neighborhood within the City of Boston, Massachusetts, United States. It was named after the American painter and poet Washington Allston. It comprises the land covered by the zip code 02134. For the most part, Allston is administered collectively with the adjacent neighborhood of Brighton. MassMOCA
The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) is a museum in a converted Arnold Print Works factory building complex located in North Adams, Massachusetts. It is one of the largest centers for contemporary visual art and performing arts in the United States. Built by the Arnold Print Works, which operated on the site from 1860 to 1942, the complex was used by the Sprague Electric company before its conversion. MASS MoCA originally opened with 19 galleries and of exhibition space in 1999. It has expanded since, including the 2008 expansion of Building 7 and the May 2017 addition of roughly 130,000 square feet when Building 6 was opened. Center For Advanced Visual Studies
The MIT Program in Art, Culture and Technology (ACT) has its origins in the Center for Advanced Visual Studies (CAVS) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), an arts and research center founded in 1967 by artist and teacher György Kepes. In 2009, CAVS merged with the MIT Visual Arts Program, to become the MIT Program in Art, Culture and Technology (ACT). The Program is part of the MIT School of Architecture and Planning.
