Joseph Thomas Walker
Joseph Thomas Walker (January 26, 1908 – April 29, 1952) was a pioneer in forensic science. He earned a doctorate in chemistry from Harvard University in 1933. In 1934, he created the Massachusetts State Police Chemical Laboratory, the first statewide crime detection lab in the country, and later, the Chemical Laboratories of the Department of Public Safety, which he ran until his death. During that time, Walker developed many of the scientific techniques utilized in modern crime detection. His eulogy in the ''Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology'' states "Throughout the world his methods are used, his name is known, and all men benefit." Lawyer-turned-mystery-writer Erle Stanley Gardner dedicated the foreword to one of his books to Walker and commented, upon hearing of his death, that Walker was "the greatest real life detective he had known." Joseph Edison Walker (March 31, 1879 – July 28, 1958) was a leading African American physician, businessman and religious leader. After graduating from college and medical school, he practiced as a doctor in Mississippi, where he was born and reared. He also became president of a bank and an insurance company serving blacks. In 1920 he moved with his family to Memphis, Tennessee for more opportunities. With associates he founded the Universal Life Insurance Company in 1923, which became one of the largest black-owned insurance companies in the nation under his leadership through 1952. With his son, in 1946 he founded Tri-State Bank, also of Memphis. He also founded the Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church, a congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Memphis. Joseph Cooper Walker (c.1762–1810) was an Irish antiquarian and writer. Life Walker was born in Dublin and educated under Thomas Ball. An invalid with acute asthma, in his earlier years he travelled a great deal for his health, and for many years lived in Italy. Walker's main work is ''Historical Memoirs of the Irish Bards'' (1786), an important source for, among others, the life of the Irish harper Turlough Carolan. Joe Walker (23 September 1910 – 19 January 1971) was an Australian novelist, newspaper editor and union leader. Early career Joseph Walker was born in Harewood, Yorkshire, England. He emigrated to Australia in 1928, and spent the Depression years in rural Australia, ending in Darwin, Northern Territory at the start of World War II. The war years Joe Walker, known as ‘Yorky’ because of his accent, worked on the Darwin wharves and became chairman of the waterside section of the North Australian Workers' Union (NAWU) and from November 1943 to October 1947, he was NAWU secretary. The 2019 season was the Chicago Bears' 100th in the National Football League (NFL) and their second under head coach Matt Nagy. The season was branded as "Bears100" to celebrate the franchise's centennial, which included a commemorative patch on jerseys and a new throwback uniform. Despite a 3–1 start, the Bears embarked on a four-game losing streak.
