Joe Thomas (alto Saxophonist)
Joe Thomas (Muskogee, Oklahoma, 23 December 1908 - 15 April 1997), was an alto saxophonist and songwriter. He was the brother of Walter "Foots" Thomas. He first went to New York City with Jelly Roll Morton in 1929. He then worked with Blanche Calloway and other bands during the 1930s, and with Dave Martin (jazz musician), jazz musician Dave Martin during the early 1940s. Joseph Elleweyn Thomas (born August 29, 1980) is an American former football cornerback who played in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL). He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played college football at Montana State. Thomas was also a member of the New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys, Edmonton Eskimos and Miami Dolphins. The past few years, Thomas was the head football coach at Ballard High School in Seattle Washington. However, he decided to become the head coach at Garfield High School in Seattle. Early years Thomas attended Kennedy Catholic High School in Burien, Washington and was a student and a letterman in football. Joe Thomas (1912–1990) was a communist activist in London during the middle of the twentieth century. Joe was born to Welsh parents in Cricklewood, London on 27 February 1912. His father was a shop-keeper in the leather trade and an active freemason. Joe attended Haberdashers' Aske's Hampstead School, a local minor public school, to which his father was a supplier. His interest in socialism may have arisen in reaction to this establishment. He was active in the Young Communist League, coming into contact with Tom Mann, John Gollan and John Ross Campbell. By 1933 he was a junior clerical worker for ASLEF in Hampstead. He visited Campbell in Paris in 1936 and met senior Russian members of the Comintern. He was involved in the Workers' Olympic Committee which planned to organise an alternative to the Nazi Berlin Olympics. Joe Thomas (born 13 February 1964) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played for South Sydney, Canterbury, Western Suburbs and Illawarra in the New South Wales Rugby League. Playing career A Mascot junior, Thomas started his NSWRL career with South Sydney, playing as a lock forward. His first-grade appearances at South Sydney were limited by serious injuries. Thomas was a hooker in Canterbury's 1988 premiership team, which defeated Balmain in the grand final. In his three seasons at Canterbury he played 55 first-grade games. From 1991 to 1993, he played for Western Suburbs and while at the club made two representative appearances for NSW City. He was one of Western Suburb's captains during this period.
