Joe Rafferty (politician)
Joseph Anstice Rafferty (10 January 1911 – 14 June 2000) was an Australian politician. He was born in Launceston in Tasmania, the son of schoolteacher Col. R. A. Rafferty and Sarah Rose Anne Plummer. He was educated locally at both state and private schools and entered the public service in 1930. On 8 June 1940 he married Miriam Kathleen Richards, with whom he had two sons. He studied at the University of Tasmania, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1941. He had moved to Melbourne in 1940, where he studied law at the University of Melbourne. From 1945 he was personnel manager for Australian National Airways. Gerard Marshall Vaughan (born 1 December 1946) is a former Australian politician. He was born in Glen Huntly to David Arthur Vaughan and Mary Therese, ''née'' Russell. He attended state and Catholic schools and received an Associate Diploma of Chemical Engineering from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1966. He worked as a chemical engineer with Australian Portland Cement Ltd. from 1967 to 1968, when he received a Bachelor of Education (Honours) from Monash University, followed by a Master of Engineering Science in 1971. He received a Diploma of Education from the State College of Victoria in 1973 and a PhD from Monash University in 1978. From 1968 to 1972 he was a research student and tutor in Monash University's Chemical Engineering Department, becoming a lecturer at Swinburne University of Technology in 1975. Alexander Fraser (Australian Politician)
Alexander John Fraser (22 August 1892 – 9 July 1965) was an Australian politician. Fraser was educated at Kyneton College in Kyneton, Victoria, before becoming a company manager. He was a good enough Australian rules footballer to play ten games for Melbourne in the 1914 and 1915 Victorian Football League seasons. Alexander Dennett
Alexander Henry Dennett (1894 – 4 December 1956) was an Australian politician. He was born in Melbourne to John Dennett and Dorothy Neale and became an Anglican lay preacher in Gippsland before serving in World War I. On his return he became a journalist, working first for the ''Star'' and then for the '' Argus''. On 4 November 1922 he married Henrietta Jean Mathieson, with whom he had two children. During World War II he served in the Middle East and the Pacific, and received the rank of lieutenant-colonel. In 1945 he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly as the Liberal member for Caulfield. He was party whip from 1945 to 1947, when he became Minister of Agriculture and Forests. He briefly held the Labour and Decentralisation portfolios in December 1948, and remained on the front bench until 1950.
