Joe Mantiply
Joseph Newman Mantiply ( ; born March 1, 1991) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees. Career Amateur Mantiply was drafted by the New York Mets in the 48th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft out of Tunstall High School in Dry Fork, Bland County, Virginia, Dry Fork, Virginia. He did not sign with the Mets and attended Virginia Tech to play college baseball. In 2010, he played summer baseball with the Bethesda Big Train of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League. In 2011, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Baseball League. After his junior season, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 28th round of the 2012 MLB Draft. He again did not sign and returned to Virginia Tech for his senior season. The Erie SeaWolves are an United States, American professional baseball team based in Erie, Pennsylvania. The West Michigan Whitecaps are a Minor League Baseball team of the Midwest League and the High-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. They are located in Comstock Park, Michigan, a suburb of Grand Rapids, and play their home games at LMCU Ballpark. The Norwich Sea Unicorns are a baseball team located in Norwich, Connecticut. From 2010 to 2020, they were members of Minor League Baseball's New York–Penn League (NYPL) as the Class A Short Season affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. The Harwich Mariners are a collegiate summer baseball team based in Harwich, Massachusetts. The team is a member of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) and plays in the league's East Division. Collegiate Summer Baseball
Collegiate summer baseball leagues are amateur baseball leagues in the United States and Canada featuring players who have attended at least one year of college and have at least one year of athletic eligibility remaining. Generally, they operate from early June to early August. In contrast to college baseball, which allow aluminum or other composite baseball bats, players in these leagues use only wooden bats, hence the common nickname of these leagues as "wood-bat leagues".
