Joe Hill (October 7, 1879 – November 19, 1915), born Joel Emmanuel Hägglund and also known as Joseph Hillström, was a Swedish-American labor activist, songwriter, and member of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW, familiarly called the "Wobblies"). A native Swedish speaker, he learned English during the early 1900s, while working various jobs from New York to San Francisco. Hill, an immigrant worker frequently facing unemployment and underemployment, became a popular songwriter and cartoonist for the union. Joseph John Hills (14 October 1897 — 21 September 1969) was an English first-class cricketer, Test match umpire and professional footballer. Life and career Born in London in 1897, Hills served in World War I with the Royal Engineers and was awarded the Military Medal for his bravery as a cabler and telegraphist during the Battle of Amiens. Hills played professional football as a goalkeeper, moving to Wales when he was signed by Cardiff City in 1924. He also played for Swansea Town and Fulham before a serious injury to his right arm in 1927 ended his career. Hills played 107 cricket matches for Glamorgan and Wales between 1926 and 1931. A wicket keeper and right-handed batsman, he took 95 catches, completed four stumpings, and scored 3474 runs at an average of 21.57 with a top score of 166 among his seven centuries. Joseph Graves Olney (October 9, 1849 – December 3, 1884) was a rancher and cattleman in what is now Cochise County, Arizona. He arrived there around 1877 and set up a ranch in the San Simon Valley. Olney moved from Texas under circumstances which were notorious. Early life Joseph Graves Olney was born in Burleson County, Texas to Joseph and Mary K. (Tanner) Olney on October 9, 1849. The family remained in Burleson until 1860, then they moved their ranch to Burnet County, Texas. In 1870, Olney married Agnes Jane Arnold and set up his own ranch in neighboring Llano County, Texas. Dusty Hill
Joe Michael "Dusty" Hill (May 19, 1949 – July 28, 2021) was an American musician who was the bassist of the rock band ZZ Top for more than 50 years. He also sang lead and backing vocals and played keyboards. Hill was born in Dallas, Texas, and as a child, he began performing music with his brother, Rocky Hill (musician), Rocky Hill. In 1968, he and drummer Frank Beard (musician), Frank Beard joined guitarist Billy Gibbons in ZZ Top, and went on to release albums, including the bestselling ''Eliminator (album), Eliminator'' (1983). Hill favored simple compositions and a "big", Distortion (music), distorted sound. Critics described his basslines as a critical part of ZZ Top's sound, complementing Gibbons' guitar showmanship. It was directed by Swedish director Bo Widerberg and is a dramatization of Hill's life, depicting Hill's arrival as a poor immigrant in New York in 1902, his involvement with the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), and his trial for murder, during which he defended himself.
