Joe Grima (politician)
Joe Grima (4 February 1936 – 3 February 2017) was a Maltese broadcaster and politician. He was most notable as one of Malta's first television newscasters and as a member of parliament who served in Prime Minister Dom Mintoff's cabinet. Between 1971 and 1976 he was the CEO of the Malta Broadcasting Authority and established Radio Malta. Grima had a robust career in radio and television before entering politics in 1976 when he won his first election to the Maltese parliament. He later became Industry Minister and Tourism Minister in the 1980s. Grima quit politics in 1992 and returned to professional broadcasting until 2012 when he resigned from One TV. In 2013 he was appointed Malta's envoy to the World Tourism Organization. Dom Mintoff
Dominic Mintoff, ( mt, Duminku Mintoff, ; often called ''il-Perit'', "the Architect"; 6 August 1916 – 20 August 2012) was a Maltese Socialist politician, architect, and civil engineer who was leader of the Labour Party from 1949 to 1984, and was 8th Prime Minister of Malta from 1955 to 1958, when Malta was still a British colony, and again, following independence, from 1971 to 1984. His tenure as Prime Minister saw the creation of a comprehensive welfare state, nationalisation of large corporations, a substantial increase in the general standard of living and the establishment of the Maltese republic, but was later on marred by a stagnant economy, a rise in authoritarianism and outbreaks of political violence. Radio Malta
Radio Malta ( mt, Radju Malta) is the main radio service of Public Broadcasting Services, the public broadcaster of Malta. Founding The origins of Radio Malta go back to 1935. For many years, transmissions were effected on a cable-radio system which started way back on 11 November 1935 by a British company called Rediffusion. This Rediffusion Cable Radio Service was officially launched on 11 November 1935. On 29 September 1962, the same company, officially opened the Malta Television Service, then known as MTV, now Television Malta (TVM). During the late sixties Rediffusion Malta effected several test transmissions with the aim to set up a radio station. But the radio station never materialised, possibly due to conflict of interest with the cable radio system which the same company was utilising. Sadiq Khan
Sadiq Aman Khan (; born 8 October 1970) is a British politician serving as Mayor of London since 2016. He was previously Member of Parliament (MP) for Tooting from 2005 until 2016. A member of the Labour Party, Khan is on the party's soft left and has been ideologically characterised as a social democrat. Born in Tooting, South London, to a working-class British Pakistani family, Khan earned a law degree from the University of North London. He subsequently worked as a solicitor specialising in human rights issues and chaired the Liberty advocacy group for three years.
