Joe Gallo (basketball)
Joe Gallo (born February 8, 1980) is an American college basketball head coach and former player for the Merrimack Warriors men's basketball team. He was previously an assistant coach for Dartmouth Big Green men's basketball, Dartmouth and Robert Morris Colonials men's basketball, Robert Morris before he was hired as head coach at Merrimack in 2016. Playing career Gallo, a native of Milltown, New Jersey, played high school basketball at Princeton Day School before playing college basketball at Merrimack College. Coaching career Gallo began his coaching career in 2005 as an assistant at Merrimack a year after he was a player for the Warriors. In 2010, Gallo was hired as an assistant under head coach Paul Cormier (basketball), Paul Cormier at Dartmouth. He was hired as an assistant under Andrew Toole at Robert Morris 2012. Merrimack Warriors Men's Basketball
The Merrimack Warriors men's basketball team represents Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Northeast Conference. They are currently led by 4th year head coach Joe Gallo and play their home games in Hammel Court at the Merrimack Athletics Complex. In their first year at the Division 1 level, the 2019–20 team went 14–4 in NEC play and won the regular season title, despite in the preseason being picked by the media to finish 11th out of 11 teams. Due to the NCAA's policy on reclassifying programs, the Warriors will not be eligible to compete in the NCAA tournament or the NIT until the 2023–24 season. 2017 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2017 NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament involved 64 teams playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division II college basketball. 2022–23 Merrimack Warriors Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Merrimack Warriors men's basketball team represented Merrimack College in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Warriors, led by seventh-year head coach Joe Gallo, played their home games at Hammel Court in North Andover, Massachusetts as members of the Northeast Conference. The season marked Merrimack's final year of a four-year transition period from Division II to Division I. As a result, the Warriors were not eligible to play in the NCAA tournament. The 2022 The Basketball Classic (TBC) was a single-elimination men's college basketball postseason tournament featuring National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams not selected to participate in the NCAA Tournament or the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
