Joe Fields
Joseph Charles Fields Jr. (born November 14, 1953) is a former professional American football center and guard in the National Football League for the New York Jets and the New York Giants. Raised in Deptford Township, New Jersey, Fields is a 1971 graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School. Football career He played college football at Widener College and was drafted in the fourteenth round of the 1975 NFL Draft. Fields was a two-time Pro Bowl selection during the 1981 and 1982 seasons. He would play 12 years for the Jets before spending his final year with the Giants in 1988. Following the 1988 season he was not offered a contract by the Giants and retired. Post retirement In 1989, he released a book, "Nose to Nose: Survival in the Trenches of the NFL" along with his friend and former roommate Joe Klecko. Joseph Edward Klecko (born October 15, 1953) is an American former football player, of Polish descent, best remembered for his days as a defensive lineman, a member of the New York Jets' famed " New York Sack Exchange." Temple Owls Before going to Temple, and playing under Hall of Fame college coach Wayne Hardin (the former Navy coach who coached two Heisman Trophy winners in Joe Bellino '60 and Roger Staubach '63), Klecko played semi-pro football for the Aston (Pennsylvania) Knights of the Seaboard Football League and kept his eligibility by playing under the assumed name "Jim Jones" from the fictional "Poland University." He also won two NCAA club boxing titles in the heavyweight division. Klecko played high school football at St. James Catholic High School for Boys in Chester, Pennsylvania.
