Joe Egan (musician)
Joseph Egan (born 18 October 1946) is a Scottish singer-songwriter. Early career Egan was born into an Irish Catholic family in Paisley in Renfrewshire, Scotland. Along with former St Mirin's Academy schoolmate Gerry Rafferty, he played in various smaller British bands, such as The Sensors and The Maverix, and worked as a session musician. Stealers Wheel In 1972, he and Rafferty founded the folk/rock band Stealers Wheel. After two unsuccessful singles, their song " Stuck in the Middle With You"—co-written by the two—became a hit in 1973, and reached the Top Ten of both the UK Singles Chart and the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. Subsequently, the band had a few smaller successes, among others, with the Egan-penned song "Star", but stagnating sales figures and artistic differences finally led to the band's break-up in 1975. Joe Egan (Paralympian)
Joseph Stephen Egan (born 31 October 1953) is an Australian athlete and volleyball player, who has won five medals at four Paralympics from 1980 to 2000. Personal Egan was born on 31 October 1953. He was a keen sportsman during his youth, competing in sprinting, hurdling, and both rugby union and rugby league, the latter for South Sydney. His right leg was amputated below the knee after a 1971 motorcycle accident. In 1999 he founded Dynamicaxtion (later named ProsMedix), a company based on the New South Wales Central Coast that makes prosthetic limbs. He has a patent for a "Method of construction of moulded products" with Wong Cheng-Hing. Career Egan was the captain of the Australian team at the 1980 Arnhem Paralympics, where he won two bronze medals in the Men's 100 m C and Men's 400 m C events. Joseph Egan (26 March 1919 – 11 November 2012) was an English professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, and coached in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. He played at representative level for Great Britain (vice-captain 1950 Great Britain Lions tour) and England and Lancashire, and at club level for Wigan from 1938 to 1950, Oldham ( Heritage No. 418) (World War II guest) and Leigh ( Heritage No. 603), as a , or , i.e. number 9, or, 11 or 12, during the era of contested scrums, and coached at club level for Leigh, Wigan, Widnes, Warrington and Blackpool Borough.
