Joe Dakota (1957 Film)
''Joe Dakota'' is a 1957 American Western film directed by Richard Bartlett and written by William Talman and Norman Jolley. The film stars Jock Mahoney, Luana Patten, Charles McGraw, Barbara Lawrence, Claude Akins, Lee Van Cleef, Anthony Caruso and Paul Birch. The film was released on October 27, 1957, by Universal Pictures. Plot Joe Dakota, a handsome, mysterious, and not exactly pleasant man, reaches Arborville, an isolated oil-seeking community in California. He is seeking an Indian scout who allegedly left the town after having sold real estate. Joe soon uncovers an unpleasant truth about the townsfolk and their oil well, which was built on the site of the Indian scout's farm. Also, a problem of attempted sexual assault is involved. Richard Bartlett
Richard H. Bartlett (8 November 1922 – 11 June 1994), also known as Dick Bartlett, was an American film director, director and film producer, producer in film and TV. He also acted and wrote. He is best known for his low budget features in the 1950s and his television work in the late 1950s and early 1960s. In 1956 he teamed up with Norman Jolley to form Bartlett-Jolley Productions. With Jolley writing, Bartlett directing and both men producing, they made eight movies for Universal-International within two years and worked on critically acclaimed segments of "Wagon Train" and later ''Cimarron City''. Steve Darrell (born Darryl Eugene Horsfall, November 19, 1904 – August 14, 1970) was an American actor. Darrell was born in Osage in Mitchell County in northern Iowa. Darrell's career began in 1931 when he acted with the Trousdale Players in Des Moines, Iowa. He was cast as the wise Comanche chief Little Elk in the 1958 episode "Renegades" of ''Cheyenne''.
