Jodie Harsh
James Allen Clarke (born 1985), better known as Jodie Harsh, is a London-based DJ music producer, promoter, and drag queen. Born in Canterbury, Kent in 1985, Harsh attended the London College of Fashion. While at university, she first adopted the persona of Jodie Harsh to make money through nightclub jobs. In April 2016, it was announced that Harsh has filmed scenes for '' Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie'', a film adaptation of the cult British television series; the film was released in July 2016. Jodie played herself in the movie, which also stars Jennifer Saunders, Joanna Lumley, and supermodel Kate Moss. In 2019, '' Out'' described Harsh as "Britain's Best-Known Drag Queen". RuPaul's Drag Race UK
''RuPaul's Drag Race UK'' is a British reality competition television series based on the American television series of the same name. The television series, a collaboration between the BBC and World of Wonder, premiered on 3 October 2019. The show is the fourth installment of the ''Drag Race'' franchise, and the second fronted by RuPaul. The show documents RuPaul and a panel of judges' search for "the United Kingdom's next drag superstar", the first series title dubbed "UK's First Drag Superstar". RuPaul plays several roles on the show including host, mentor and head judge for the series, as the contestants are given different challenges to participate in each week. BBC Three is a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel owned and operated by the BBC. It was first launched on 9 February 2003 with programmes targeting 16 to 34-year-olds, covering all genres including animation, comedy, current affairs, and drama series. The television channel closed down in 2016 and was replaced by an online-only BBC Three streaming channel. After six years of being online, BBC Three returned to linear television on 1 February 2022. RuPaul's Drag Race UK (series 2)
The second series of ''RuPaul's Drag Race UK'' began airing on 14 January 2021 on the BBC Three section of BBC iPlayer and WOW Presents Plus streaming service. The series was confirmed and casting was closed on 15 November 2019. Production was suspended mid 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but resumed late 2020. The cast of 12 new queens was announced on 16 December 2020 and the series premiered on 14 January 2021. A drag queen is a person, usually male, who uses drag clothing and makeup to imitate and often exaggerate female gender signifiers and gender roles for entertainment purposes. Historically, drag queens have usually been gay men, and part of gay culture. People partake in the activity of ''doing drag'' for reasons ranging from self-expression to mainstream performance. Drag shows frequently include lip-syncing, live singing, and dancing. They occur at events like LGBT pride parades, carnivals and drag pageants and in venues such as cabarets and nightclubs.
