"Semi-Charmed Life" is a song by American rock band Third Eye Blind from their eponymous debut studio album (1997). It was released to radio as the lead single from the album on February 18, 1997, by Elektra Records. Frontman Stephan Jenkins is credited as the sole writer of the song, although guitarist Kevin Cadogan has disputed the song's authorship through litigation. Production on the song was helmed by Jenkins and Eric Valentine. According to Jenkins, the song is about a crystal meth addiction and the feeling that "your life is always about to change and never be reliable." "Block Rockin' Beats" is a song by British big beat duo the Chemical Brothers. Released in March 1997 as the second single and opening track from their second studio album, ''Dig Your Own Hole'' (1997), it topped the UK Singles Chart and peaked at number 40 on the US ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart. It received a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. Birth Through Knowledge (aka BTK) were a Canadian rap rock band best known for their 1998 single "Peppyrock." Core members of the group were DJs Stone Groove and Lo-Ki. Local H
Local H is an American rock band originally formed by guitarist and vocalist Scott Lucas, bassist Matt Garcia, drummer Joe Daniels, and lead guitarist John Sparkman in Zion, Illinois in 1990. The members all met in high school in 1987 and founded Local H three years later. They are known for their unorthodox two-piece setup. After Sparkman's departure in 1991 and Garcia's departure in 1993, Local H signed a record contract with Island Records in 1994 as a duo, where they would go on to release three albums. They became best known for their radio hit "Bound for the Floor", a single from the 1996 album '' As Good as Dead'' which peaked at No. 5 on the US Alternative ''Billboard'' Chart. Norman Quentin Cook (born Quentin Leo Cook, 31 July 1963), also known by his stage name Fatboy Slim, is an English musician, DJ, and record producer who helped to popularise the big beat genre in the 1990s. In the 1980s, Cook was the bassist for the Kingston upon Hull, Hull-based indie rock band the Housemartins, who achieved a UK number-one single with their a cappella cover of "Caravan of Love". After the Housemartins split up, Cook formed the electronic band Beats International in Brighton, who produced the number-one single "Dub Be Good to Me". He then played in Freak Power, Pizzaman (band), Pizzaman, and the Mighty Dub Katz with moderate success. Bush are an English rock band formed in London, England in 1992. Their current lineup consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Gavin Rossdale, lead guitarist Chris Traynor, bassist Corey Britz, and drummer Nik Hughes. In 1994, Bush found immediate success outside the UK with the release of their debut album, ''Sixteen Stone'', which is certified six times multi-platinum by the RIAA. Music video The music video was directed by Shawn Mortensen in London and Portsmouth. Sections of Shepherd's Bush, where the band members used to live, can be seen in the video. Gavin Rossdale's dog Winston is also in the video. Commercial performance "Machinehead" reached No. 43 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 on 4 May 1996. Republica are an English alternative rock band formed in 1994. The height of their popularity spanned from 1996 to 1999. The current line-up consists of Saffron (vocals), Tim Dorney (keyboards), Johnny Male (guitar), Conor Lawrence (drums). The Republica sound was described by the band as "technopop punk rock". Bleacher Creatures
The Bleacher Creatures are a group of fans of the New York Yankees who are known for their strict allegiance to the team and their fierce attitude towards opposing fans and teams. The group's nickname was coined for the first time by '' New York Daily News'' columnist Filip "Flip" Bondy during the 1990s, and then he spent the 2004 season sitting with the Creatures for research on his book about the group, ''Bleeding Pinstripes: A Season with the Bleacher Creatures of Yankee Stadium'', which was published in 2005.
